Hi all-

I have a mitsubishi WS 55908 diamond series tv.
I've had the set about 9 months.
Tonight while watching the opening credits on a DVD
as the credits changed, I could still see the ghosted images of the previous credits.
I seldom watch network tv. 95% of usage is DVD movies.
I usually zoom if the aspect is 2:35 or more to prevent burn in bars.
Can anyone tell me what's going on?

• Those slowly fading "ghost" images you are seeing are a manifestation of how the phosphors that are coated inside the CRTs behave, and this phenomenon is especially noticeable on light text juxtaposed against a dark background. As one set of credits ends, the phosphors take a little time to "settle down" to complete dark again. It's the nature of the technology.

• No need to zoom a 2.35:1 film if your white level ("contrast" or "picture") and black level ("brightness") are appropriately adjusted. Remember, we are advocates of viewing films in their proper aspect ratios! So, as long as the picture is properly adjusted and if you mix the type of material you watch, there should be no problem with burn-in.
