The finished part of my basement is kinda small, but I can comfortably fit around 6 people to watch a movie. Problem is this part only has 1 vent; which is partially blocked by a couch. I put a fan down there but it's too loud and simply opening the doors doesn't help much. As you can imagine it gets muggy and even smelly after a while.

Would a de-humidifier work or would I have to bite the bullet and get another vent or 2 installed down there? Thanks for any input.

Adding a second supply grill and a return will help a lot. I would suggest a adding the return high on a wall opposite the supply grills if possible.

If your system is equipped with a Heating & Cooling thermostat, try running the fan continuiously to circulate the air.
