Believe it or not I picked this CD up at Best Buy. I couldn't believe they had it. But I have noticed that BB is carrying a few more obscure titles lately. Although SUGARBOMB is on a major label (RCA) for this their second album, they still have that very "indie" band sound about them. Power Pop of the highest order is what they are about. Catchy, sugary melodies, outstanding harmonies, tons of energy...and an albums worth of it. There is not a mediocre tune here. They remind me a bit of Owsley, if anyone here is familiar with him, but with a little bit more edge to their music. There are even elements of E.L.O. and Queen popping up from time to time. Just an outstanding album from a great up and coming band. The name SUGARBOMB is appropriate because, well, this album drops on you like a bomb...and explodes all over you with sweet, infectious power pop tunes.
