Kevin Bacon, with his ever-youthful face, had a healthy collection of roles before he stepped into the dancing shoes of Ren in Herbert Ross’s crowd pleasing 1984 film, Footloose. His performance as the city boy in the repressed small town is an earmarked page in his successful career journey and an important one. Critics weren’t all that kind to this film when it premiered, but audiences loved it, helping it earn $80MM off an $8MM budget, and the soundtrack ruled the airwaves. It’s an 80s film through and through, and yet, there is something about it that still resonates (and I confess that it may only seem that way to me, a child of the 80s). Paramount’s 4K release is the superior version of the film and worth the upgrade for fans 4K equipped.
