Never seen one with the director (unless our home movies count) but I did attend a discussion on how Nathan Johnson scored the movie "Brick", I met Nathan through my best friend who is his bands (The Cinematic Underground) publicist/manager. Nathan's a good guy, very funny, intelligent, a bit awkward talking in public, but stated he's also scoring the film to his cousin Rian's next film as well.

Heh. Was it possible to see Robot Stories without Greg Pak in attendance? He was all over the place with that movie.

Thanks to my attending the 61st Venice Film Festival in August/September 2004, I managed to "mingle" with these industry people at the following screenings:

1.I FRATELLI DINAMITE aka THE DYNAMITE BROTHERS (1949) – with the children of late director Nino Pagot

2.COLPO DI STATO aka COUP D' ETAT (1968) – with the son of late director Luciano Salce and leading lady Orchidea De Santis

3.COLPO ROVENTE (1969) – with leading lady Barbara Bouchet

4.A LOVE SONG FOR BOBBY LONG (2004) – with stars John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson and director Shainee Gabel

5.5x2 (CINQUE FOIS DEUX) (2004) – with director Francois Ozon and leading lady Valeria Bruni Tedeschi

6.MILANO CALIBRO 9 aka THE CONTRACT (1972) – with leading lady Barbara Bouchet

7.NON SI SEVIZIA UN PAPERINO aka DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING (1972) – with leading lady Barbara Bouchet

8.DANZA MACABRA aka CASTLE OF BLOOD and CASTLE OF TERROR (1964) – with the son of late director Antonio Margheriti

9.…E TU VIVRAI NEL TERRORE! - L' ALDILA` aka THE BEYOND and SEVEN DOORS OF DEATH (1981) – with screenwriter Dardano Sacchetti

10.I CENTO CAVALIERI aka 100 HORSEMEN and SON OF EL CID (1964) – with leading man Mark Damon

11.ORGASMO aka PARANOIA (1969) – with director Umberto Lenzi

12.LO STRANO VIZIO DELLA SIGNORA WARDH aka BLADE OF THE RIPPER and NEXT! (1970) – with director Sergio Martino

13.IZO (2004) – with director Takeshi Miike

14.LA DEMOISELLE D' HONNEUR (2004) – with director Claude Chabrol and leading lady Laura Smet

16.THE TULSE LUPER SUITCASES PART THREE: FROM SARK TO FINISH (2004) – with director Peter Greenaway

17.CRIMINAL (2004) – with stars John C. Reilly, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Diego Luna, director Gregory Jacobs and executive producer Steven Soderbergh

18.QUEL MALEDETTO TRENO BLINDATO aka INGLORIOUS BASTARDS and COUNTERFEIT COMMANDOS (1977) – with director Enzo G. Castellari

19.EROS (2004) – with directors Michelangelo Antonioni, Steven Soderbergh and Gillo Pontecorvo (whose son shot Antonioni’s segment) and stars Christopher Buchholz and Luisa Ranieri

20.COL CUORE IN GOLA aka DEADLY SWEET (1967) – with director Tinto Brass

21.SPASMO aka THE DEATH DEALER (1974) – with director Umberto Lenzi

22.STEAMBOY (2004) – with one of the producers

23.CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST (1979) – with director Ruggero Deodato

Most of the screenings of the Euro-Cult titles above were also attended by Joe Dante and Quentin Tarantino who acted as patrons to the retrospective dedicated to Italian "B" movies. Consequently, I got to see them practically every day and talked, shook hands and gotten an autograoh from both of them:)! Actually, fellow cult film fan Martin Scorsese was also expected to be there but, sadly, he couldn't make it:frowning:!

Even though, understandably, he didn't list any names, I'm very impressed with Bill's track record. Bravo!

P.S. Spending a fortnight in Venice led me to "meet" about 80 "famous" people but during 3 months in Hollywood I only met one - Seymour Cassel, in a great DVD rental store on Santa Monica Boulevard - but I only realized who he was after he left the building...:frowning:!!

Too bad, would have been fun to meet Moskowitz.

I had the same thing happen in an LA movie monster toy store called "Creature Features" with director Frank Darabont, when someone said "Hey that was Frank Darabont!" I had been too busy drooling over the Godzilla toys to really look at the other people in the store.

I'll never forget sitting through Darren Aronofsky's "Pi" at Sundance at '98. My wife and I were near the back of the theater and our conversation frequently drifted into how much this movie sucked (still haven't watch it since to see if I feel the same way). After the lights came up, Aronofsky and his posse stand up for the Q & A...of course, they were sitting directly behind us. I felt terrible, but I think he got over it.:)

If it makes you feel any better Christ, Owen Wilson was also at the Rushmore screening.

The Happiness screening also included Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jane Adams, Cynthia Stevenson, Jared Harris, and Dylan Baker.
Solondz's speaking style takes a bit getting used to ;)

The very loud Boogie Nights screening also featured Mark Wahlberg, Heather Graham, Luis Guzman and Melora Walters.
I also spotted music mogul and Dreamworks honcho David Geffen in the audience as well as Deborah Kara Unger (Geffen's date) and Lou Diamond Phillips (Wahlberg's date).

P.T. Anderson was very enthusiastic and talked a blue streak!

Brook, I met Moskowitz 10 year ago at a screening of Passage. He was pacing up and down like a wild man and seemed really bored and restless.

The worst part of it is that, while I didn¡¦t get to take a good look at his face, I was admiring from the distance this "old man" who was eagerly looking through the DVD keepcases on the shelves and occasionally enthustically exclaim out loud to his much younger female companion: "Ah, now that's a great film"! I heard him say that at least twice - about Roberto Rossellini's STROMBOLI (1950) and Jules Dassin's NEVER ON SUNDAY (1960); he was even mildly irritated that the owners of the place had classified the latter as a "drama" and not a comedy:)! When I realized who he was, I found his having just rented FACES (1968) quite amusing:)!

Not that I doubted your claims but I'm glad you posted your list and I would have been glad to meet all of the above myself:). At film school in Hollywood, I did get to meet a script supervisor on Neil Jordan's IN DREAMS (1999) and she didn't have a lot of positive stuff to say about him:)!

From your list, I did get to catch sight of Ethan Hawke (at London's National Film Theatre) and Spike Lee, Takashi Miike and Maurizio Nichetti (at the 61st Venice Film Festival); I practically brushed against Hawke as he was entering one of the theaters where he was going to sit for a Q&A session and I managed to get Miike's authograph after a Press Conference.
