dvi/hdmi quality (1 Viewer)

We hooked up our Hitachi S715 with comonent to the cable box. Excellent quality, same with dvd. Digital and analog channels little fuzzy and lines of course.
Tried using dvi/hdmi and seemed to lose some crispness on the hd channels. But the big difference was the digital and analog channels. Images had a criss cross, knit type look to them. And the edges of faces and such had a digital like stepping to them.
Is this fixable or do I have to chose between the two.
We also got better coax.
Also bought a motorola signal booster (15db boost) and still get some pixaling,but not as much as before. Will there always be some pixaling on some stations no matter what.
