In reading some DVD audio literature I came across the phrase "DVD-Audio discs offer MLP high resolution stereo and 5.1 surround tracks with exceptional clarity and range that surpasses the finest compact discs"

The pamphlet was actual sent out by DTS entertainment. I can not find out what MLP stands for. If anyone knows I would really appreciate it.

Thanks, Jason

Meridean Lossless Packing. It's a form of digital audio compression that, being lossless, doesn't affect sound quality. But since it is lossless, it has only about 2:1 reduction.

Although they didn't invent it, Dolby is in charge of MLP licensing.
