This is a tough thread.
Over the years Films like Cinema Paradiso, Shampoo, First Born, Summer Of '42, Shoot The Moon and Big Wednesday have resonated with me. Reason being is that I have experienced the exact situations in the film and have had friends that the characters in the film represent. You sit in the dark and get upset, nod in acknowledgement and sometimes think, "wow, this director or screenwriter experienced the same thing, I'm not the only one". I think a lot of us out there have experienced this and while I don't want to invade your privacy, if you can name the film/films that have had this impact on you, please do.
I think Whiplash and The Paper Chase may be examples of teachers we have had in the past.
