I have some family from Scotland over and they wanted to purchase a DV camera here at a discounted price and take it back to the U.K. Besides the outlet problem, will it work?

James,
Someone else will chime in with the real information that you are looking for, but your question reminded me of this one:
"Do they have the fourth of July in England?" :)
I believe that they might encounter a problem with the camcorder recording in NTSC and them trying to play it back on a PAL display device. Again, others here will set you straight.
Good luck,

True there, but most cameras that record digitally have NTSC and PAL as playback options when playing back directly from the camera.
You'll have to be selective when buying the camera, but I'm sure they can find one that will fit the bill.
