Do any SACD Players do DD and/or DTS decoding? (1 Viewer)

I was wondering if any of the SACD players do DD and/or DTS decoding on board. That way you could just run straight into a preamp/power amp and speakers eliminating the need for an external processor.

Hey there -

I just bought a Sony 5 disc DVD changer. I'm not sure what the prefix model numbers are, but its something "...-650V". It plays SACD, DVD, CD, VCD, and SVCD - I was very happy to see it do wonders with some of my SVCDs! It does have multi-channel capability with SACD as well as decodes DTS and Dolby Digital. Its a great player for the money, and the DACs are actually better in some ways than those of my HDCD Denon CD changer, although I still prefer the Denon overall.

I wouldn't run this directly into power amps... a preamp of some sort is DEFINETLY necessary.

I'm fairly certain that every DVD/SACD player and DVD-A/V player on the market will decode both DD and DTS 5.1.

AFAIK the DVD-A spec does not allow for "dedicated audio players" that do not also play DVD-Video. SACD does allow this also, but it's irrelevant to this discussion of DVD-V combo players.
