I haven't been able to read the news sites
as of late.
Perhaps this information has been posted there
previously.
Our contact at UHV has sent me this statement
asking us to post it for all of you....

Some listeners have noticed that the initial release of the Jurassic Park-DTS DVD differs in bass level from other home-video versions. While every effort is made to maintain accuracy and consistency across various releases, source and process issues sometimes lead to differences which are noticeable in direct comparisons.
Universal Studios Home Video strives to ensure customer satisfaction, and accordingly has implemented a running change for this title, using the original master soundtrack. The earlier production run can be identified by the code number D2R1 on the inside hub. The newer, current version can be identified by the code D2R2 and will contain a red technical grid on the back of the packaging as part of the running change.
Consumers who have purchased the "D2R1" discs will have the option of making an exchange. Please send in the disc only (without packaging), along with name, address and telephone number, to: Universal Studios Home Video, PO Box 224468, Dallas TX 75260 or Universal Studios Home Video, 8801 Autobahn Drive, Dallas, TX 75237.
Please note: This offer for exchange applies only to the DTS version of Jurassic Park.

Ok, so when it says to send the "disk only" and not the packaging...that means just the DVD itself? What does one use to ship a single DVD to keep it safe?

if it was me i'd send the dvd in a regular jewel case and send it in a paded envelope. shipping is like three dollars for one of those.

Why not send it in the Disc case that AOL provides?
Well, Ron's post says to "Please send in the disc only (without packaging)...". Besides, I really don't think you should care whether the disc arrives safely or not. :)

I just sent mine in a padded envelope by itself. I don't think they're concerned with getting it "intact", but just as a way to prove that you bought the original.

Patrick,

Actually, you'll be getting en entirely different master, not just more bass.

I sent mine in and received the replacement long ago. They send it back in a jewel case regardless of whether you send it in a case or not, so if you want to save on shipping, send the disc alone.

Dangit!! I bought this DVD like 3-4 months ago and still got a bad copy. I just discovered I had a bad copy from my pokings around here doing search on DTS. My disc has PEMC-D2R1 on it.

Is there a Number to universal I can call?? I emailed them 2 days ago and gotten no responce. I wonder if they will still exchange the dsic for me??

On the actual disc itself on the side with the artwork.

The writing goes around the hole in the middle of the disc itself. It's a bit hard to read since it's on the silver part.

Is it possible to not have either of those codes? I have looked everywhere on the disc. I have neither D2R1 nor D2R2 on the disc.
