Hello there:

I am new here so the question may sound childish to many of you.

Many DVD players nowadays have the option of playing different media types like CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R and DVD-Audio. I am interested in knowing just what kind of file extension it refers to in general.

DVD/DVD-R:

Audio CD/DVD Audio:

CD-R/CD-RW: .mp3, .mpg, .mov? .avi? .wmv?

VCD - .mpg, .mov? .avi? .wmv?

so anyone can correct me and fill in the rest?

I do not know about the DVD portion, but the CD-R and CD-RW compatible players will only play normal CD audio from the discs unless the player specifically states it will play MP3 files as well.
