Can I run 7.2.4 through Denon 6200? Do I need to get another amp like an outlaw?

You can run 7.2.4, but yes, X6200 needs separate amp. Cheaper option is X4200, you can run 7.2.4 with this too + 2 separate amps :)
If you have some old amps, then this will work well.

No the X4200 cannot do 7.2.4. It's a 7.2 channel amp with 9.2 channel processing, so with an external 2 channel amp the most you will get is 5.2.4 or 7.2.2.

My mistake, I'm using 11.2 speakers on my 4200, but this is different configuration (+ 2 receivers, atmos-ex :))

Yes, just out of the box 4200 can't be more than 9.2 together with added stereo amp.

I need it to be a 2 channel amp

If you have an old AVR that still works I'd personally use that instead of spending money on another amp. I was using my old Onkyo SR706 to drive the 4 ceiling speakers from a Yamaha A3040. As far as a separate amp I know a number of people on AVS are using the Audiosource AMP-100VS http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Source-...460591459&sr=8-2&keywords=audiosource+amp-100 I don't personally have any experience with it however.

Thanks for info on the audiosource amp. My AVR is brand new and I need another amp to run atmos at 7.2.4. My current set up is 5.1.4 and I would like to add 2 more SS speakers and one more sub

The 6200 will process 7.2.4.
It will power 7.2.2 (or 5.2.4). You need external amp(s) to get to 11 channels.

Checking Emotiva, Outlaw, and Marantz, for the price of two channels of amplification, you're better off buying a five-channel amplifier (unless you want high-end mono blocks for the two channels).

Thanks, I think I am going to go for the outlaw. I can get on Amazon for not too bad of a price. Does it matter which speakers I run through outlaw?

That's a great question! :) I've wondered the same thing as I plan my home theater.

My feeling is you should run the core five speakers of the basic 5.1 system from the Outlaw. It should be the "best" power with five dedicated amplifiers. The other speakers, which are less important, can be run from the AVR.

But I welcome more informed opinions.
