The actor, known to some viewers as Ilya Kuryakin in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and to many others as Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard on "NCIS" has passed away from natural causes, a week after his 90th birthday. He was working nearly to the end, having appeared in last season's NCIS finale.

Loved David McCallum. He was Beatlesque in his UNCLE role. And he had one of the best lines and delivery in the history of television:

Solo: “Ilya, are you free?”
Kuryakin: “No man is free who works for a living, but yes, I will help you.”

RIP

RIP Mr McCallum. Was a big MFU fan and still am. Plus all the shows and movies he was in. A solid body of work. As others have mentioned , he had a great run and i was privileged to have watched him in many of those roles.

I remember owning a life-sized poster of him as Kuryakin back in the 60s. It used to freak my father out when he'd notice it as he was walking past my room on his way to bed.

Very glad that his career got another life with NCIS. Many good years working there. It was very nice this past season where there was a nice call out to Ilya Kuryakin in one episode.

Many years ago an actor friend of mine toured with him in a play. Afterwards I recall him saying
Mr. McCallum was one of the nicest colleagues he'd ever worked with.

A number of people on a theater site are saying how wonderful he was to work with in the theater. With one saying everyone in the theater agreed to not saying how much of a crush they had on him when they were very young.

65 years of entertaining people, given that his first uncredited role was with "The Archers" and I know that most associate him with his TV roles but he also had some good films under his belt as well

The Great Escape
A Night to Remember
Billy Budd
The Long and the Short and the Tall
Freud
The Greatest Story Ever Told
The Secret Place
Hell Drivers - which we need a release on this side of the pond

add to that an accomplished musician, I'd call that a rich and full life,

Rest in Peace

I was impressed to learn Dr. Dre sampled David’s track “The Edge” as the hook for his 2000 song with Snoop Dogg titled “The Next Episode”.
