Is it the same as the R2 Tartan release? Tartan commissioned new subtitles (which are apparently more accurate and certainly *way* more explicit than those on the original US/UK release) and reinserted (so to speak) a brief glipse of an erect penis in the opening titles that had been cut (ouch!) from the original US/UK release. If the MGM release is of the 'old' version familiar from arthouse cinemas, etc, then you really should try to see the R2 version - there are considerable differences.

To return to topic - as I said in an earlier post, I already have the Tartan releases, and was debating whether to get the Criterion versions as well. Well, not for the first time, you guys at HTF have persuaded me, and the Criterion set is on order.
