Spencer Tracy is easy to spot. Is that Errol Flynn? It can't be. Must be someone else.

I knew about Jason's father being Jason Miller. I had no idea about his connection to Jackie Gleason!I didn't know that actor Jason Patric's father was Jason Miller (The Exorcist) and that his maternal grandfather was Jackie Gleason.

Bingo!Tracy is easily recognizable.
George O'Brien?
Well, I did meet the gentleman. As gracious and handsome as in this photo. Besides, he is one of my favorite silent stars who transitioned well into talkies. A member of the Ford company.Bingo!
TBH, I thought he was easily recognizable in that photo based on watching many of his silent movies and later talking films.Well, I did meet the gentleman. As gracious and handsome as in this photo. I like the cast, so I'll definitely be watching.View attachment 218111
This weekend's "Noir Alley" movie is "Pushover" (1954) starring Fred MacMurray, Phil Carey, Kim Novak and Dorothy Malone. I believe this is Novak's credited screen debut which beat "Phffft" by several months in 1954. Richard Quine directed, and Roy Huggins wrote the screenplay. I'll watch my 2021 Indicator Blu-ray for the first time which replaced my 2010 DVD of it. A pretty good "B" noir about a police detective that crosses the line falling for a sexy vixen.
Updated TCM's Noir Alley 2024 Schedule:
12-02-23: Black Angel
12-09-23: I Wouldn't Be in Your Shoes
12-16-23: Beware, My Lovely
01-06-24: Pickup
01-13-24: I Died a Thousand Times
01-20-24: Stage Fright
01-27-24: Woman in Hiding
03-16-24: Le Samourai
03-23-24: Where Danger Lives
03-30-24: Pushover
04-06-24: Violence
A good film noir but I don't think it's as good as Eddie stated. My problem is that they appeared to soften Novak's character at the end of the film.View attachment 218111

I agree. Good but not that good. When Novak's character revealed that she had had her car checked only to find nothing had been done to the distributor, I began to think maybe she was playing everyone to get the $200K for herself. Sad to say, it wasn't that nefarious in its plotting.A good film noir but I don't think it's as good as Eddie stated. My problem is that they appeared to soften Novak's character at the end of the film.
I can't wait for that series. Interesting directors and titles. Not the obvious which is great. Two for one

This is a nice 30-minute piece by Imogen Sara Smith and Eddie Muller. I have to agree with them that 1950 film year has more of my favorite films than 1939.Coming to The Criterion Channel:
I loved this. Eddie and Imogen are arguably the 2 greatest film noir aficianado's alive today. This is a nice 30-minute piece by Imogen Sara Smith and Eddie Muller. I have to agree with them that 1950 film year has more of my favorite films than 1939.
I will be reviewing tomorrow, but I should be able to get to it in a day or two. I have never seen it either.View attachment 218860
This weekend's "Noir Alley" movie is "Violence" (1947) starring Nancy Coleman, Michael O'Shea, Leonard Sheldon and Peter Whitney. The director, Jack Bernhard doesn't ring a bell, but one of the screenplay co-writers was Stanley Rubin, who wrote and produced his share of film noirs. I don't think I ever seen this independently produced "B" movie that was distributed by Monogram. I don't expect the video presentation to be that great considering Monogram. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to seeing it tomorrow morning.
