Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I bought a used Pioneer CLD-3070 LaserDisc unit ten days back from a local dealer, because it had digtal out and double side play, and I really like how this model's put together. I paid way more than I would except that it had a 90 day warranty, which is for things like this as good as forever; and now it looks like I'm going to need it. I've been running the player ~2 hrs daily for the past week, to test it for temperment. As I finished my last disc tonight, the machine started making a THUMP-THUMP-THUMP noise as the disc spun down -- it sounded like the laser head got jammed around behind, while moving back to the Side A position. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, got the disc out [undamaged, thank God], and then had to force the disc tray back in and unplug the unit as it had begun thumping again. This failure mode is just so dtrange that I wondered if anyone else has ever heard of such a thing.

Christopher, I don't know what the problem is but the player is like, ancient. It's about an '88 or '89 model...? If you can possibly, under the warranty, return the player. Then look for a newer player. I hope you didn't pay much for this one. Good luck and best wishes!
