I was just wondering if player CDs in a DVD player might do any damage to the DVD player or the DVD discs.

Is it possible CD-Rs might be bad for a DVD player?

Thanks for any thoughts,
Jack

Jack, playing CDs in a DVD player will not damage the player or DVDs. If you had two of the same model DVD player and used one for both CDs and DVDs and the other just for DVDs, and you played DVDs in the two players at equal frequency (i.e., the same continuous run time per use and same number of hours per week), the player that was used for both CDs and DVDs might fail sooner. This might be expected particularly if the player performing double duty saw extensive use with CDs. In this case, the laser mechanism in the player used for playback of CDs and DVDs might fail sooner. That said, playback of CDs in DVD players need not have a deleterious effect on the efficacy of the unit.
