"Bouncing" LFE signal (1 Viewer)

Help guys,
I'm running a Denon 3300 receiver to a Parts Express passive sub.
When I try to set the level on my sub, the spl "bounces" about 4db. It does it with the receiver's internal tones and with test discs.
I usually use a TOA commercial amp, and thought the problem was with an input signal voltage mis-match. I swapped the amp out with a receiver. Same problem.
Has anyone encountered this before? Is it my 3300?
Thanks Dean

Dean,

This is quite common with low frequency test signals, especially the pink noise most receivers use, and I assume your test disc. It’s because pink noise is random in nature (sine wave gives a more steady reading.) You can try switching your meter to slow response, or perhaps averaging the fluctuation.
