Borders Buy 3, Get 1 Free In Store + Coupons (1 Viewer)

Borders is currently holding a Buy 3 & Get 1 FREE event on most titles. In addition, you're able to use the following 25% off a singular title coupon,in the same transaction.

I purchased 4 discs, priced $9.99, 2 at $10.99, and 1 at $12.99 (FREE after the coupon was applied) for $35, tax included, AND was issued a "Bounce Back" coupon, good for 30% off another singular purchase 9/1 - 9/5! Great deal, but of course, YRMV!

It sounds like they screwed up. Those promotions always give you the cheapest item free, so you would have gotten one of the $9.99s for free and had to pay for the $12.99. Looks like they messed up in your favor.

Unless they took the 25% off the $12.99 disc first...making it $9.74 and thus rendering it as the cheapest of the four discs.

I'm surprised too, though...since most stores are reluctant (read "will refuse") to combine offers.

I see. Well that makes sense, though as Mike points out, mixing coupons is an unusual practice (you could actually get stores you owe you money, e.g., 1/2 off a $15 item, then a $10 off coupon)

I bet a different clerk would look at you like you've got three heads if you tried to replicate that bargain. Hell, a lot of clerks probably couldn't even pull it off in the first place!
