I was told a couple of deals by a Best Buy employee, too. In fact, one of them I actually SAW the flyer for! Strange that they aren't listed in Patrick's post. Here they are:

1) DVD player: $39.99; models vary by store (Mintek 1600 in the store near me). 5 hours only, starting at opening on Friday.
2) Mintek 1710 portable DVD player system with 16x9 screen: $279.99, THEN get a $50 mail-in rebate (final price: $229.99). Friday & Saturday only.

I too saw the cheap DVD players in the store by my house. I always go in the day before Thanksgiving because they always have to stack the loss leaders out in the store since they won't fit in the back. If I remember correctly the brand was Silver Cinema, or Home Cinema, or something like that. I'd never heard of them before but lets just say they looked like $40 DVD players. Definitely not worth waiting for all night in the cold. I would estimate that they had about 100 of them.

Jim, I had asked about that Mintek 1710 a while back, and was told it was very decent for the money, and no big tech glitches associated with the low-end brand name that Mintek aquires for it's $50-ish set-top players.

Well, just show the CC clerk the ad where it says the CD sale is all day as printed in the flyer. I don't think CC is going to want to try and piss off customers on their biggest shopping day of the year.

Oh, I neglected to mention that at CC there's a APC 6-outlet (3-outlets are power, 3 are UPS'd) UPS for free after MIR. That's really the only thing I want.

OK, Like a idiot I went to BB this morning to take advantage of some of the dvd pro-mos. bad move I was there as they opened 6am by the time I finished collecting all the dvd I wanted.... ALL the lines were to the back of the store! I had to be at work in an hour and a half so I am still dvdless.
