I think its about time Paramount went and released this movie on DVD.
Eddie Murphy at his best, and the best of the COP trilogy.
It should be given a proper package as well, 5.1 sound, featurettes, Deleted scenes etc.. And It would great if we actully get a commentry from Ed the Man himself although tats asking a lot.
Do any others agree.
His older movies have been given poor DVDs eg 48 hours, coming to America.
This should be treated well better.
How do we get Paramount to listen?

Welcome to the forum.
The rumor going around is that we'll see some of the Eddie Murphy films next year on DVD. However Paramount has been having a lot of problems with rights to the music for a lot of films. I think it's just because they don't want to pay the money. They still have yet to release "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever"; again because of song rights and royalities. Hopefully the rapidly growing DVD market will loosen the purse strings from the bosses at Paramount so the home video division can get some of these films that are thick with songs out.

OH NO!
That means i may be too late for what we want.
Does this mean it will end up being just a No Frills DVD disc?
Oh, and thanx for the welcome

You should read our National Meet report.
Apparently, 2002 is going to be Eddie
Murphy's year on DVD.
Paramount is releasing all the Beverly Hills
Cop movies as well as a few other Murphy titles.
The BIG disappointment is that TRADING PLACES
will not be one of them.
We have also been campaigning to get the absolute
best stand-up performance, DELERIOUS, out on DVD.
That request is falling on deaf ears, or, the
studio just can't make it happen.

This is a two way street. It's not just that Paramount doesn't want to pay they money, but it could also be the amount of money that the artists are demanding for the use of the songs. If that amount is too high, then it's not worth it to the studio to re-license the songs.

Problem is without those songs, there is no movie.
Makes me sick, these guys (Bee Gees) have enough money, and sure, more money is welcomed. But come on, when is enough enough? I think they should be paid fair value, but obviously that's not what they're asking for otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Actually, Trading Places is being released in Region 2. Check out Play.com
So does anyone know if it will be a special edition disc Beverly Hills Cop or not?

I'm excited that Vampire in Brooklyn is going to be one of the Murphy movies released by Paramount next year. Guilty pleasure of mine. :)
I'm definitely going to pick up Beverly Hills Cop and Trading Places once their released though. I hope they can get Akyroyd and Murphy commentary on Trading Places, whenever they decide to release it.
