Anyone know this woofer? (1 Viewer)

Are any of you guys formilliar with the Audax PR330M0?
A company her in Norway has a sub-kit wich includes this woofer, and I was wondering if you guys and girls had heard good things about it.
Here are a picture and som facts about the kit:

Design: linear bass reflex
Volum: 92 liters net
Impedans: 8 ohms
Frequency range: 27-110Hz
Sensitivity: 93dB (2,83V/1m)
Measurements: 35*57,4*70cm (w*d*h)
Weight: 46kg

It's one from the Audax "pro" line. Very low Xmax 4mm, and Fs is 28Hz, so pretty high. We used very similar drivers in the X1-SLAMM clones. http://users.t-three.com/ttriff/page3.html
They are good driver, very efficient. But not really suitable for a real "sub", much more appropriate for a pure "woofer" http://www.audax.com/products/index.shtml

I've used the PR330 before. Nice woofer, with a very "clean" breakup. But as Thomas cautions, it DEFINITELY is not a subwoofer! Doesn't go deep at all, and can't generate a lot of SPL down low. But for PA type apps, it's a great choice.
If you want high efficiency and more Xmax, I'd consider the Eminence Kappa 15LF. About the same cost and efficiency, but able to play a bit lower and louder.
Neither is going to get you bone-rattling output down around 20 Hz, however.

Looks like I will look for another kit with a different driver.
But the choices here in Norway is not great.
I may have to import one...

Well, it is not out of the question.
But there are taxes and freight costs to be considered.
The tax in Norway are 24%!
I am in the window shopping phase.
Just seeing what my options are...

I ordered my Shiva from Link Removed in Germany about a year ago. The total cost incl. shipping was 1700Skr(170USD.) to Sweden. I don't know if this is cheaper than to buy from Adire direct. There is no driver that can compete with the Shiva here in Europe that I know of, perhaps Peerless XLS12.

I've had my 2 Shiva's sent to a friend in US. He unpacked them and removed the invoice and shipped them as a gift to us in Tanzania. No VAT, no tax. I assume the same procedure is ok for Norway. Oivind, don't you have a friendly friend or relative in US?

Shipping a Shiva to Norway would be $37.16 for surface, or $64.24 for airmail. Tempest would be $5-$6 more, because of the extra weight. Surface takes 7-10 weeks, air takes 2-3 weeks.

Guys,
No close friends in the US. But it looks like Shiva is an option worth looking in to.
After reading only good things about it here in the forum, I might have to get one. (Shiva winnig again
At least it should not be hard to get some help building a decent sub!

Oivind, if you decide to get a driver from Adire Audio, I recommend buying the Tempest. For the little extra it will cost for the price of the driver and the shipping, it is like getting 2 Shiva's worth of performance for a lot less than twice the price.
