When looking in stores I was noticing people shaking some, or asking if they could open the set in front of a manager or clerk.

I realized when one customer opened her movie and NO DVD was in it. OF course she got it replaced.

But one customer was shaking alot and found some were rattling inside.

As I bought my new Dana Carvey show, and opened it this morning to find that disc 2 was loose, I was so upset.

Who hasn't had a rattler at some point or another?

You always give the case a small shake to check for that. If it rattles, pick another one.

That's become a bit more rare with the slimline cases, but it still happens.

you should always give your dvd box a shake before buying. The only problem is getting a false rattle - like when they have offers inside the box. But they don't make the same thunk noise.

When that happens, I then put the dvd into a seperate case and keep it with the set, unless it is scratched up. Then I return it for another complete set.
