Accoustic foam vs polyfill (1 Viewer)

I am currently building new speakers for my HT and was going to use foam aka egg carton foam instead of polyfill. Are they for the same usage or since the design calls for poly use that? If I use the foam do I need to take allowances in interior demensions like you need to for braces?

Thanks that was what I was looking for. Too bad I already sealed the back up and used accoustic foam since I already had it. I can probably remove the foam throught the holes drilled for the speakers. It will be a pain but I want to do it right.
