If you're seeking a pleasant evening of torturous cinematic escapism, and La La Land or Beauty and the Beast don't seem to fill that bill, Jigsaw, now available from Lionsgate, may fill that void.
The next installment in the ever-pleasant Saw journey, that arrived back in 2003, with James Wan's survival drama, Saw.
It was followed by more adventures in 2005, 6, 7, 8, 9 and finally in 2010, with Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.
And while Mr. Wan moved forward with some superb horror/thriller films, The Conjuring and Insidious, and their sequels, Saw sat...
waiting to pounce back, until Jigsaw arrived in 2017, directed by the Spierig Brothers, Michael and Peter, their latest being Winchester.
Shot with an Arri Alexa mini, and finished as a 2k DI, Lionsgate has given us the film in 4k, to better enable us to appreciate the sweeping vistas, and extraordinary detail held within the many extra long shots.
Possibly not precisely the correct film for those seeking another Freed Unit musical, it, along with those that arrived before, have a hotbed for ravenous followers.
Lionsgate's Blu-ray in 4k, with HDR serves up the film in perfect form. Anyone adding to their library is best to go with format.
Audio is scream-filled Dolby Atmos.
