Hello...
Well, my 40H80 is I think finally burned-in! WooHoo...
I was wondering what DVD should I get AVIA? or Video Essentials? The cheaper the better.
So far I have:
--tweeked contrast, brightness,...with the FightClub DVD THX thingy
--Diasabled SVM
I plan to(in order)
--do electonic focus
--adjust geometry
--Overscan and image centering
--Herman TLV
Is the order right?
Also I have noticed these problems with my set:
If I look at a totally white image the white level varies from left to right...Like this...
htq.gif

I bet I can fix that with the geometry VARs right? Do I do it before convergace? When I try to converge the piont in the lower left corner it doesn't seen striaght also when you move either the R,B to the left it doesn't move in a straight line it starts to move down and rotate a bit.
Lastly I always see a BLUE HALO when doing the convergance...9 piont...
Thanks Guys! I'm sorry if the post is sloppy...

Greetings
Lens Striping will address the colour temperature difference from the left to the right side.
Humps are taken care of with geometry adjustments via the convergence grids.
You need a grid overlay or strings and tape.
Blue generally does halo a bit ... nature of the beast.

Thanks Michael TLV, I have heard a lot of good thing about you...
I still don't know in what order to do these things...
I'm thinking...
-geometry
-electrical focus
-converge
-lens striping(????)Is that the tape thing?
-and...?
Also do I buy AVIA or VE?

My suggested calibration order:
1) Electronic focus
2) Mechanical focus
3) Mechanical alignment: image tilt and centering, set picture height and width, set overall geometry
4) Convergence
5) Other adjustments - white level, black level, sharpness, contrast, color
Other:
* Remove protective screen - any time before #5
* Lens striping - I'd probably do this before the mechanical focus since it involves touching the crts.
* Install duvatyne and/or lens hood - any time before #5
Rodrigo, you will find instructions for most of these items at my web site under Toshiba Tips & Tweaks.
