Yup, my 2900 has no problems with G04 media which is what I use for my authoring projects.

It handles cheap media as well relatively well. I've never had a disc not play, retail or not.

Where are people picking this up? I see e-cost has refurb models for $580, is there a good price for new models somewhere?

My 2900 hasn't had problems with any media, store-bought or burned, that I've thrown at it. It has played EVERY disc I've ever put in it from CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, SACD, DVD-A...

I've been very pleased with it.
