Well another great show, I see the mother-daughter relationship starting to blossom. The girlfriend is really freaky and the more you know the less you want to know. The brother is a little odd too. I thought for sure the girlfriends mom and dad were going to purpose a threesome the way they were acting, they are very odd too. Interesting to note that Kathy Bates directed this episode. Another show without the dad but it looks like he will be back next week.

HBO ran a marathon of the first four episodes on Saturday, and I finally got caught up on the series. I love this show!
The "funeral of the week" has got to be the most Network-inspired piece of television since the tabloid news shows began to take over. The porn star funeral was a hoot.
The mother-daughter relationship shows promise, and the on-again, off-again relationship between David and his lover provide some interesting plot twists.
I love how Nate impersonated HAL in one of the early episodes.
As for psycho (?) girlfriend and her manic depressive brother, those Nathaniel and Isabel tattoos just about freaked me out. I'm afraid we are going to get into icky territory before the show has run its season.
And what happened to the Funeral Home Conglomerate? Did David's threat actually scare them away?
Anyway, this is great television. Strange and edgy, but great.

Yes, I think Kronos has had all it wants from the Fisher Brothers.
Brenda and Bobby will be the sociopathic brother-sister pair from hell! And Nate is in over his head.
The porn queen's funeral was played for good guffaws.
I think the strength of this show is character development, and reactions of these characters to extenuating circumstances that seem to crop up with running a funeral home.

I missed the first episode but really love this show. I like how it is unfolding. Should we start the box set petition now?

quote: Sandra Oh [/quote] She really gets around. First, Further Tales of the City, now the Six Feet Under cameo -- and she's still doing Arli$$ (I realize that many people don't consider that a career highpoint, but she makes me laugh).

I loved the Chinatown reference:

Anther good episode... good scene with David "coming out", only to take it back later. We'll see where that leads.
Was that Robert Foxworth (Chase Gioberti from "Falcon Crest") playing Brenda's father?

I thought I was going to choke on my drink when Nate introduced Brenda as his girlfriend to David and she said that she preferred the term Spoiler:fu*@ puppet. That's a new one for me.

What I don't get is where Rico put the cat food cans that he claimed were keeping the porn queen's silicones straight. She hadn't been autopsied, so he couldn't have stuck them inside her body.

I have not been able to get into series that HBO has presented in the past, even THE SOPHRANOS. This series is a "razor sharp" very dark drama that gives you a dark laugh. Yes, I too like the "death of the week" as well as the funeral director talking to the deceased like as if there was a therapy session going on between the two. This show is a "corker" and it is great.

Janna, I didn't get that either... maybe someone who knows more about corpse restoration can enlighten us?

The characters are so very interesting. I especially like the build up of Nate's girlfriend. She is going to turn out to be one sick puppy. I love it! And the daughter! She seems pretty normal but acts like she thinks she should be all screwed up. She is a hottie though and I like her sense of humor.
