Most TV's seem too high to me.

Looking at pictures and being at peoples houses, seems like people are mounting their TV's way too high. I thought he old rule of thumb was to try to center the TV vertically to your eyes in your seated position....Which is actually quite low for a large TV. I currently have my 85" at a height...

    Guess these speakers.

I wish the pic was a little clearer. Lighting was strange because he had recessed LED lighting that was set to actually rotate between different colors. Yeah. He's a bachelor.

    Guess these speakers.

I was at a coworker of my wife's house and he had a heck of a 2 channel setup. It was a house party so I never got a chance to ask him about it but I took a pic. They look like Perlistens as they had that distinct checkerboard speakers but I couldn't find these on Perlisten's website. Anyone...

Cable Routing for Best 4K Picture

Man-W is right about that receiver. I have the same issue with my Denon AVRX-3000. So much for buying ahead for future upgrades. My Sony UBP-x700 4k player has two HDMI outputs. One for Audio and Video and one With just audio. Since I only have Arc, the TV won’t pass along the dolby...

    4K TV is where exactly?

Why would the Xfinity guy at the Xfinity store lie to me about their own product? I'm sure it was based on what he's personally witnessed and not any official reliability data, but if anyone had insight into it it would someone who works there. If you say its fine, how many people did you...

    4K TV is where exactly?

I have Xfinity Comcast cable and when I asked them about getting a 4k cable box, the guy told me I shouldn't bother. That for the few 4k programs they have, it wasn't worth all the trouble they had been having with the boxes reliability-wise.

SVS PB-1000 Pro: maximum 40 cm deep (aka 15.748 inch), ported, alternative?

I was going to say the SB-1000 but then I saw your comment about wanting ported. Thats going to be tough to find even in a 10".

    Sony Receivers

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking to replace a Denon AVRX-3000 that was sold to me as 4k around 2014 or so as well, , but also lacks the HDCP 2.1 so now I have everything going to the TV and coming in thru ARC except the Sony 4k blue ray player which must have anticipated this issue and has...

    Sony Receivers

Seems like when the question of what receivers people are looking at or recommending, Sony is not a part of the discussion. Yet when I see professional reviews on them, they review really well. My first 5.1 receiver was a Sony that I purchased back around 1995 or so. It still works! I...

    4K with AVR-X3000

So I've setup Arc and its flaky for sure. I'll turn the TV on and it will often say "No signal" even though the cable box is on. I have to turn on the receiver on and then turn it off again for the cable TV to come up. Seems like the TV and/or receiver get confused on what that ARC channel...

    Start with Center Channel?

I really like all these suggestions. I did a little research into each of them and of course when I got on the KEF website I was actually drawn to the Q750's which the towers aren't bad at about $800 each but its another $800 for the center. A little over my budget but it looks like Best buy...

    Start with Center Channel?

I currently have a 5.1 system with Phase Technology Teatro series 6.5 center channel and Teatro 4.5 surrounds. The center has dual 5 1/4" woofers and 1" soft dome tweeter. The Surrounds have a 1" tweeter and a single 5 1/4" woofer. I'd be looking to get floor speakers for the L and R. My...

You got me. I made it up. :P:P:P:P Nah, JK. Here you go. https://www.svsound.com/blogs/svs/why-the-center-channel-is-the-most-important-home-theater-speaker From the above article...."The center channel carries roughly 70 percent of the entire soundtrack, and even more in specific...

    Start with Center Channel?

I've been thinking about upgrading my speakers. I really like my HSU subwoofer but would upgrade everything else and maybe get a 2nd HSU. Given the following assumptions: 1) its use will be 95% Home theater. 2) The center channel is the most important speaker for Home Theater. 3) You should...

    Separate Amp vs Better Receiver

Speakers are a 5.1 setup. Phase Technology Teatro Series 6.5 center and 4.5 L/R and rears. Sub is a HSU vt2mk5. I currently own a Denon avr-x3000 and looking to upgrade probably when the new models come out. My X3000 can’t even handle the latest 4k security protocols. The area is a family...

    Separate Amp vs Better Receiver

OK. What better use of money. Denon AVRx-3700 + Monolith 5x (about $1300+ $1400) OR just a better receiver like a AVRX-6700. This is for a guy that would not go bigger than 7.2 and running sub/satellite speakers. I guess this gets to the heart of how much does a separate amp benefit a...

Show Off Your System! The HTF Theaters Thread

Yeah, mine are about 20 years old. The only problem I had was about a year ago, one of the tweeters went out. Fortunately I was able to get on the website and purchase a replacement. As you can see from he picture it was an easy fix. Just the 4 screws, pop it out and 2 quick disconnects...

Show Off Your System! The HTF Theaters Thread

I'm fairly new here. Here's my system with the new Sony X900H I purchased. (you can still see the packing material piled up on the right :)). I did slide it over a couple inches to the left since I took this pic. The system is as follows: - Sony XBR85X900H - Denon AVR-X3000 Receiver 5.1...

    4K with AVR-X3000

I've decided on picking up the Sony X700 4k blu ray this weekend. I did some research into it and it has 2 HDMI outputs. Seems like they expected people like me to have this problem with old receivers not passing 4k thru. One HDMI output is normal A/V but the 2nd one is just audio only. So...

    4K with AVR-X3000

I wanted to comment on your mention of 8k receivers. Isn’t my current problem really an argument though against early adaptation of newer technologies? When I bought my receiver I’m sure I was thinking it was great it had 4K....I‘ll be ready. But here I am...ready to go 4K ....and I‘m going...

I’m Looking to get into 4K here soon starting with a new TV. I looked to see if my old Denon AVR-X3000 receiver could handle the 4K pass through and it does say on the Denon website... Support 4K video to enjoy 4 times higher resolution videos than current HD on larger displays and screens...

Hello new here and im having issues with was supposedly a great

Is the tweater part of an assembly that’s screwed into the box? I had A blown tweeter on my phase tech 4.5’s and I looked up the manufacturer which is actually MSE audio. Called them and they sent me a replacement for $45. 3 screws and 2 quick disconnects was all it took.

    Time for a Receiver Upgrade?

Time sure flies as it seem like not that long ago I got my Denon AVRx3000 from my wife for Christmas. Then I see that the same model is up to to a revision AVRx3600 and then I’m reminded that mine is pretty old. It seems to work well, but Im wondering if I’m not getting the latest decoding And...

    Mixing speaker Impedances

I'm not too happy with the sound of my center channel so I'm thinking about upgrading. My current speakers are all 8 ohm. Some of the centers I'm looking at are 4 ohm. I have a Denon AVR-X3000 receiver. Is it possible to run a 4ohm center with the rest of the speakers being 8ohm? I recall...
