Ok, I just got my new Toshiba 27a45 27" curved tube tv earlier today from BB. when i was watching a movie in widescreen, i noticed the the entire image is scewed. The right side of the set is up, and the left is down a bit. It looks like the picture is rotated by a few degrees. It's not a lot...
The more expensive one didn't have the option in the standard menu from what I could find. I'm not worried about messing around with the service menu. I've been tweaking anyhting I get my hands on since I could turn a screw driver or plug in a soldering iron :) It's only a SD 27". If I cannot...
the more expensive one advertises VSM but I would be willing to bet that it has it on the cheaper one as well, much like the 16:9 mode. I'm probably going to get the cheaper one unless i get a bargain on it. There's no need to spend the extra money when I plan on getting an HD set whenever I get...
They don't advertise it on the 27a45. They also don't advertise the 16:9 mode on it, but it does it along with the more expensive model. I'm almost willing to bet that both sets do the same things, only difference is that they market it on the more expensive set. Even the rear jacks and molding...
I tried running through the menus but I couldn't find anything related to velocity scan anywhere; maybe it's in a service menu? Still not sure if we're going to get the 27a45 or the 27af45. It's a big price difference and the only thing the 27af45 has over the other one is one more button on the...
Someone posted that their tv with a 16:9 squeeze mode said that if it is used more than 15% of the time that the black bars, both upper and lower, will begin to etch onto the screen permanently. Is this true for ALL the CRTs that have the 16:9 squeeze ability? Sounds to me like an old computer...
Hmm.. What's the point of offering it on the more expensive sets then? Selling point? I wonder if the Toshiba can defeat VSM at all. If I end up getting the curved screen it doesn't have VSM anyways.
Is velocity scan modulation VSM a needed thing on the new sets? Reason being, is BB has two 27" Toshiba models. One with flat tube and the other slightly curved. The curved one doesn't advertise it, but while I was at BB I took the remote for the flat one with 16:9 squeeze and it will also put...
It turns out that Target only carries the tv online, and it's another $110 to ship the set to me. So much for that. If I can scrounge up enough money I'm going to get the Toshiba from Best Buy over the Sony.
I paid $39 shipped for a region free dvd player that plays any form of video file at it: mpeg2, mpeg4, all the popular computer formats. And, it has a very intuitive remote that is much easier to use than my old cyberhome remote was. It is a Lasonic and can be found at www(dot)newegg(dot)com...
Ok, the toshiba set I can get for $293 after tax with a employee discount at Target. It has the 16:9 mode as well as the sony. Just don't know if Target stocks this tv or not. I sure hope they do, because if they do I'm borrowing a truck and picking it up tomorrow!! If not, I'm kind of stuck in...
See, I need to keep it under $300 or real close to it. I can do that toshiba or sony for 329 with the 16:9 "squeeze" mode and still be ok. I would LOVE something with HD capabilities, I just cannot afford it right now on a part-time wage. I just graduated and it's tough finding an entry-level IT...
Hi, this is my first post here but I have been scouring the site since last week. My 27" JVC set just died on me a few days ago, so I am looking for a new set. It came at a bad time so I only want another 27" but one of the flat CRT sets and i need component video inputs for my DVD player along...
