34" CRT viewing 7' awaw - too small?

Large screen TVs are highly recomended if you watch lot of DVDs.But small screen TVs do tend to look better when you watch normal TV programes. Have a look at RPTVs, see if you like the picture. If you want to stay with direct view going widescreen is a good idea.

    what type of projection?

one advantage i saw in rear projection is that if you play a DVD connected in component in total darkness, its a movie screen.Nothing can beat it! Especially if you have a 55+" widescreen. But when you watch normal channels RPTVs tend to look bad, plasma doesn't.Thats one thing that is making me...

    what type of projection?

Which one has got better picture quality? Some website advertised their LCD projection to have a "film projection like quality". That makes me wonder, what is the resolution of the film display in theaters? Is is just light passed through a film or any other technologies involved?

    RPTV ideal screen size etc...

Flicker means a picture that is not very stable.I notice flicker and interlacing on normal TVs ever since i started watching lot of progressive stuff. 8 feet is too close for SD i think. I have a smaller room that only gives 7' viewing distance. But i will have to go smaller if i have to...

What i mean is that interlacing would be visible on a very large screen.Isn't it?Even on a 27" TV you can spot the difference between interlaced and progressive.

Which displays are good for the eyes?

how does this happen, the lens becomes rigid? I have near sightedness. It started at the age of 15 and stabilised at 18.I had a minor eye injury after which my vision started to degrade. But i can see clearly with corrective lenses. But some people tell me it is due to watching too much TV.

You mean lens right? Lot of discussion about eyes.So i would like to ask, do you guys think myopia(shortsight) can be the result of watching TV screens for too long or too close? Recently i read that a large number of kids in Japan wear glasses as a result of watching too much TV.

Which displays are good for the eyes?

Yes, that was exactly what i wanted to know. Ofcourse lightings do have an effect. But this i think we have to choose according to our comfort. A major problem for the eyes i heard is radiation.I heard that direct view CRTs can be harmful for the eyes because they send off radiation...

Which displays are good for the eyes?

Just a little curious. There is an age old saying, if you watch TV too much you'll have to wear glasses. Is is true only for CRT direct views. What about projection,LCDs and Plasmas. Are they eye friendly?
