Thanks for all the suggestions. I should have done some internet searching before posting this topic since it's obvious there are still numerous 2.1 systems still around. Thanks again!
I really don't have enough desktop space for more than two speakers and evidently I must be alone. I'm shopping for a 2.1 system for my computer and all I can find at department stores are Bose Companion 3's for 250.00 and a Klipsh model for 150.00. There is another brand of Bose computer...
I couldn't care less if they want to colorize black and white movies. If there is a market for them they might as well tap it. As others have said, it isn't any worse than pan and scan or remixed 5.1 audio.
It's a lame plot hole. I like Alien three but there obviously is no good explanation for the egg being on the ship. It's just an example of sloppy writing. In my opinion, the face hugger sound at the very end of Aliens is probably just a sound gag by the filmakers done for a laugh.
Thanks Brett. Do you have any idea why Boses uses different types of drivers on each side of the unit? The idea behind the "wave guide" system sounds interesting but also looks like a very cheap and easy to manufacture audio "technology". If I understand correctly all Bose does is place some...
I would love for someone to explain the "science" behind the Bose Wave Radio. Bose claims the sound from the speakers travels through a tunnel inside the radio making the sound "fuller". I'm no audiophile but considering the speakers are facing in the opposite direction of the tunnel how on...
I've noticed a bit of flickering in the background which is not present on the Japanese DVD. It runs throughout the film from beginning to end and is more noticable in the dark scenes. Does anyone else see this? I'm just curious as to whether my disc is defective or if this flickering is maybe...
I am apalled at the lack of quality in Bose products I've seen. My mother recently purchased the CD Wave radio for 500.00. The CD player is one of those cheapo models that does not remember where the CD left off when you press the stop button. The sound quality is also noticably inferior when a...
I think it has two meanings. In a literal sense "film" is a one type of material used to capture motion picture images. For example 28 Days Later could not be considered a film if you use this defintion. The word film is also used to differentiate between a popcorn "movie" (ex: Charlie's...
I hope this new Alien Director's cut flops. I'm tired of "reimagined" versions of classic films being released to theaters. It's a bad trend that deserves to die.
I found this at www.imdb.com. 'Sex': Tamer But Funnier Although "tamer" than the original, the syndicated version of HBO's Sex and the City, will contain footage shot specifically for a commercial audience that is "funnier" than the original material, according to the online Media...
I can't stand Juliana. She is a terrible news anchor. My guess is that she must have slept with someone to get that position. Why else would someone choose her?
An interesting footnote on the transfer. At the end of the closing credits for Images a logo pops up saying "Darbee Vision transformed DVD". I remember Altman's last film Gosford Park also used this technology for the DVD. I'm sure it is being used per the directors request. Here's the...
I just got my copy and have no complaints! MGM did a perfect job on this DVD! It's great to see an Altman film once believed to be lost is now available in such excellent condition!
I can't believe how terrible this series is. I just watched the first two episodes and have not laughed once. The Family Guy tries desperately to be edgy and funny yet fails miserably at both. This cartoon couldn't be any more contrived. What an overhyped piece of garbage. I rate Family Guy as a...
I'm neutral on coverart these days but if I didn't know anything about the movie I'd think it was about siamese twins in a race. Maybe Disney is thinking ahead to Matt Damons next film and trying to tie this one in somehow.:)
Deep Discount DVD shipped mine last Wednesday but I haven't received it yet. Hopefully I'll get it in a day or two. It's weird that no DVD site has reviewed it.
Yesterday I saw an official HBO 2 page ad in one of those video store business magazines. (I think the magazine is call VA Magazine)The two page ad said there would be eight half hour episodes on two DVD's and the retail price would be 49.99 and the MAP (minimum advertised price) would be 39.99...
