My wife and I just picked up a beatiful new entertainment center to go along with the new 55" Mitsu. As such, the components have been moved into the enclosed rack space built into the center. What I dont like though is that this space is pretty well closed off to the room atmosphere. This is...
Just about sold on a new 55" Mitsu Diamond. For me the picture quality is lust worthy. Im just curious as to the reputation of the Mitsu's. Any thoughts ? Should I steer clear ? Any customer feedback, etc, would be apprecaited. -- John
Im running 603s3 for the fronts, 601s3 for the surrounds, and the 600s3 for my center. The sub is the smaller SVS and I love it. What a combination. Life is good !! -- John
Ooops, I should add something. I really have no inclination to do any upgrading. Im totally satisfied. This was just a point of conversation and curiosity for me. As pointed out, the only real thing that I would consider down the road is SACD or DVDA and since Im a fan of 2 channel stereo it...
There are two real aspects of sound from a reciever, and Im sure others here can expound more than I can. Basically they are 1) The processor and 2) the actually amplifier. The processor is used for decoding the bit streams into discrete channels of information, or sound signal. Its a...
Im fairly new to the Home Audio / Home Theater arena. I just put in my first 5.1 system this past December now that I finally own my own home. The system is by most standards pretty modest (HK320, B&W DM series, SVS). Anyway, the wifey and I have been wearing out our Netflix subscription and Ive...
I personally am a fan of the H/K though I admit my Denon experience is limited to showroom only. While I originally had wished that my H/K did OSD via component input I have found that to be a non-issue really. Once the system is initially setup, if I ever feel like tweaking it I do it with just...
I have a system based on the 600 series. 603s3, 600s3, and 601s3's being driven by H/K 320 and it continues to please me non-stop. You wont be dissapointed if you go with B&W. If I did it over again Id still go with B&W. -- John
Honestly Bob, I would still go with the HK *20 series. I have a 320 and have never had it shutdown on me despite the fact that its in a small rack. Its clean and sounds beautiful. I think there are probably way more quiet happy owners of HK than there are outspoken upset owners. -- John
I have a new townhome. Normally I wouldnt have been two suprised about a neighbor hearing stuff in a townhome. However, our townhome has false walls and void spaces between the units coupled with some pretty thick firewalls. Ive pushed it before and havent had any real issues, altohugh last...
It took a month, but last night at 10PM at the end of MIB II my doorbell rang. It was my neighbor asking if I could turn it down. :b SVS, what can I say other than God bless them !! -- John
Yuppers. Most subs go into standby (as in power off the amplifier circuits) if they have been inactive for a while. When getting a signal from the reciever, they then turn themselves on. -- John
Heres my opinion. Personally Im not a big BOSE fan. I agree with the others in that they dont sound nearly as good as their competitors (too me anyway), they seem to be somewhat overpriced, and that the BOSE marketing guys pump up their product way too much. All of those reasons though are...
Jeff, Congratulations. I really wanted CDM series but couldnt afford the whole setup so I went to the 600s3, but have been way way happy. I orginally looked to the B&W's for what I think is a crisp response on the high end. But like I said the imaging is way way developed. As far as the...
Anyone here familiat with Jesse Cook's work ? If not and you like guitar work you will *love* him. A friend of mine turned me on to Jesse after he heard Jesse on the street. Hes absolutely amazingly talented. -- John
Queens Ryche: Silent Lucidity has got to be the best recording ever made by man. Id love to meet the tracking engineer that picked up that sound. WOW. -- John
Yes it will, very much :D Waiting for mine was difficult also. Be aware though, something that caught me off guard was that it is shipped (at least mine was) requiring signature upon delivery. -- John
I can only comment on the B&W's. My whole setup (with exception of the sub which is SVS) is based on the B&W 600s3 series using the 603's as the mains. In short, WOW. I personally have found the imaging for me to be the best with the B&W's. Ive been amazed at the intrument/vocal placement...
Hmm, I would personally disassocaite size with loudness. I would suggest SVS. Many of the disqualifying factors seemed to stem from neighbors. Id say get the SVS and turn it down :)
Bananna plugs are simply a wire terminator that allows a wire to be easily connected to a speaker or receiver/amp. It basically is a pin that has a flair in the middle (to help it stay inserted), hence it looks kinda like a bananna. Most binding posts on the back of recievers/amps and speakers...
I have a whole B&W setup (603, 601, 600, SVS) powered by a HK 320 and am absoultely in love the sound and the system. Rarely do I get to listen to just music in the house, but when I do, WOW. Im hooked on B&W. -- John
Actually most dual source recievers (like the 320) come with 2 remotes. One is the main remote for the system, and the second is a smaller remote for the second zone. If you arent in line of sight of the reciever there are options available to extend the range of the remotes so that you can use...
The biggest difference is the price (just got my 320 for $399 delivered) is that the 325 has better base management and has 7 amplified channels instead of 5. If you want to do anything more than 5.1 with the 320 you have to use an outboard amp for the other channels. With the 325 you dont, or...
