What are you guys using to calculate the final Q of a box?

I've been using Lspcad but I don't think it can calculate the Q of a box. I've been thinking about the optimum height for my 24" diameter sonotube with my AV-15. What height would give me a Q of 0.5. I'm going for tight, accurate bass, and I think that's what you guys were recommending. I've got...

Sonotube powering options for dual AV-15's

Okay, I'm thinking of building a sealed 300L sonotube with 2 AV-15's. I'm wondering about the best way to power this thing. I already have a 350w plate amp so I could buy one more and use 350w at 4ohms for each driver. Then I could take the sub out of the receiver and go into 1 plate amp and...

Where can I find mod info for the 250W plate amps?

Hey guys, I thought a read a post on here a couple days ago that had 3 different ways of modifying the plate amps. An audiophile version, LF version, and HT. Has anyone come across that site, or is there some more good ones? Is there a way to change the 2nd order crossover to a 4th order crossover?

I need help with the crossover on my plate amp.

I've got the 250watt plate amp from parts express and I was doing some experimenting with it the other day. Here's my equimpent: Denon 1802 (80hz crossover) 2 Le Amps PE 250w plate for my sub nOrh 4.0's all around DIY 340L EBS Tempest (sonotube) I was trying to see how my nOrh's sounded...

What do you guys think of the Eclipse drivers? (1.75" xmax one-way)

There's this girl at work wanting to spend around $350 on a sub and she was thinking about the polk momo's. I was like I can get you something way better for the same price, and I immediately thought of the Brahma line. But then I started looking around to make sure that was the best. Then I...

What driver would be best suited for a 165 Liter sealed (2' 24" sonotube) enclosure

Hey guys, I'm a semi-newbie to this DIY stuff but my first one turned out pretty good. I guess the choices would be, Tempest, Shiva, AV12, AV15, Blueprint 1203, is there anyone else I'm missing. I've already made a 340L vented Tempest design, so I'm going for the coffee table with a bump...

Boomy ported 340L Tempest sonotube, similar to Ron's problem

I finally finished my first DIY project, I'm in the process of covering it with fleckstone, I've already used like 7 cans of it, gets pretty expensive. I put like a 1/4 inch of polybatting around the sides but the glue didn't hold to good so now its just kinda laying in there. I'm getting...

Quick Question: What are you guys entering for the port width of a 4" flared aeroport

I'm using Adire's Lspcad. Do you think this is similar to a 5.3" non-flared port. If so this would give me a 16hz tune with a 16" port. But if its only 4" then I'm down to 13.9hz, so you can see my dilemma. Thanks

Got my tempest up and going, or at least for the most part

I've been slowly pieceing together my sub over the past couple weeks and here's the stats 24" 4' sonotube 15" Tempest (on top, until I get legs) 3/4" MDF caps 2 4" Aeroport's 250W Plate Amp The 4" Aeroport's haven't arrived yet but I wanted to hear this thing this weekend so we cut 2...

Me and my uncle starting building a tempest sonotube and need some help on ports

Alright, we went out and bought a 12' piece of 24" sonotube yesterday. And I just ordered my Tempest a couple minutes ago. We figured we'd cut it into 3 pieces makes 3 4' subs. Were wondering what to do with the ports. Dan's design suggested we put 2 4" 17" ports on the bottom, but I figured...

Would anyone be willing to build my friend a sub?

I bought a Dharman about a month ago, and I love it. Long time lurker first time poster. My friends asking me for the most cost effective sub there is, so I of course said DIY. But were not to good with building things, so I was wondering if someone could do it for us for some cash. I can get...
