I personally would never take that upgrade path, especially if you have music anywhere on your priority list. Both M&K sets are wonderful, and the S150 set is a bit nicer for movies. But, as you said, the S150 set is a THX setup that isn't the best music speaker out there. I would stick with...
I'm with Nick on being confused about calibrating with mains off. Aren't we interested in flattening the reponse of the system, not just the sub. Say that we have a mode around 60Hz with a crossover frequency of 80 Hz...both the sub and mains will be outputing at this frequency and will lead...
Hey,
Does anyone happen to know the final crossover slopes? Is the low pass a 24db/octave slope..and is the highpass a 12db/octave slope? I am just wondering if I'd be better off with a unit like the denon that uses the THX like crossover slopes if my speakers (m&k s125s) were designed...
Echoing what everyone else here has said,
excellent job!!.
On another note, yes I am browsing using Internet Explorer on Mac OS X and some of the figures are missing...Fig 5,6,7,9. I just downloaded the word format for my records
I owned one of these for a while when they first came out. I quickly found out the mistake I made by not getting the pronto and sold the unit. For 100 bucks it is not bad, but I would rather try and find an older or used pronto.
Time after time we see the same movies listed for stunning sound demos. It seems that one of the running themes in this list is the general classification of "action movie". I was wondering what discs are out there that people consider reference quality dolby digital, but that are not action...
To be honest I have used neither product. That being said I would without a doubt pick the BFD. Jitter is one of those things that has been debated forever. Regardless of how real a problem it is, the fact that debates on whether one can hear it or not support the fact that it is not a night...
Given a choice between Bose and Gallo I would definately go Gallo. That being said, I would listen to the new speakers they have, the Due, as it has a dedicated tweeter. The original micro satellites use a single full range driver. As good as it does with a single driver the top end I found...
phil,
I appreciate your feature for feature check list. Now, if the system this is going into is for Movies/Music at about a 80/20 ratio and the main speakers are M&K S-125 speakers that are nominal 4 ohm speakers and I'm crossing them over at 80Hz....then is it worth it to even upgrade the...
With the 4802 going a little more than double the price of the 3802 is it really worth it? What does the price of the 4802 get you? I am in no need of the 4802 THX processing (just the THX like crossover frequency and slope). For the money it seems like it would be better to go with the 3802...
Maybe I answered my own question, though i would appreciate any verification. The 4802 manual has a section where is goes over setting the crossover. One of the option for setting the crossover frequency is "THX 80 Hz". This seems it will do what I want...the only question is if it really is...
Ok,
I have been researching how best to implement the BFD and have two conflicting sources. The SVS website says that when setting up the subwoofer that one should turn the amp all the way up and manipulate the sub signal via the receiver. The information on the BFD seems to say the BFD...
Ok,
I have browsed several speaker lines that have THX certification. The M&K S150 speakers are -2 db at 77Hz and the Atlantic Technology 450 system mains are -3db at 80Hz. Now, I am not buying a THX system, but the speakers I will be using (M&K S-125's) have the same 3db point as the...
Hey,
I have a 32xbr450 also and was wondering how much it cost to have the isf calibration done on this set? Also, for the quoted price what exactly was done, if you know? Thanks
Ok,
I've done some searching but I am not quite clear on a point or two about subwoofer calibration. Ok, the first thing I don't quite get concerns subwoofer and LFE channel trim controls. Now, depending on what documentation I read they reference changing the sub trim controls or the LFE...
Question about the rotel 1066 (and multi-channel) amps and bridging. What, if any, are the downsides on bridging? Does distortion or any other spec that is undesireable become more prominant when bridging? The Rotel seems like a perfect amp to grow with. You can start with six channels of 60...
Does anyone that has the b&w cdm cnt center channel have any experience with placing it on top of a 32" television. I have a sony 32xbr450 and I just noticed the b&w center channel is almost a foot deep...it seems like there is no way this will balance up on my television. Thanks.
Patrick
Ok, like I said..I am fairly sure the 7NTs are the way to go...they sounded wonderful...Now, the only concern I have is room size. My sofa sits against the rear curved glass window...my sofa is curved and follows the window. The primary listening location is roughly where the curved glass...
So, as those of us with a SO know...the home theater often times comes second to decor. Now, I am trying to come up with ways to hide an SVS sub I plan on getting next year. Would it be possible to put the sub behind a standing screen (the decorative type...not the projection television type)...
Ok,
After an extended listening session this afternoon at my local dealer I am convinced once and for all tha the 7NT is the way to go. I had listened to both the 1NT and 7NT before, but never compared them head to head. The 7NT wasn't just the 1NT with more bass...it was the better...
