What's the best option for OTA tuners now days?

I am in the process of converting my old home theater room that I wasn't using anymore in to a golf simulator room. I am looking for a fairly basic OTA tuner option that I can use on the computer that will be running the simulator and everything else in the room. I honestly don't need much...

    In-Wall Rack in furnace room?

I have toyed with the idea, but I am not sure where I could put it? I thought the "box" had to be completely sealed off from the business end of the sub. I hope that makes sense. Most setups I have seen have the IB in the attic that is about 99% sealed off from the room it is serving. I...

    In-Wall Rack in furnace room?

Mine is exactly like this. Since it is in the basement, it won't get too warm in there. My HVAC guy was going to put a heat register in there and I told him not to. I plan on building the rack open in the back, and maybe set a box fan behind it on low to keep it cool. Really should be no...

    The first Dive-In theater?

I have seen this done. The person used a white shower curtain and had the projector behind it like a rptv. Seemed to work pretty well and the projector was actually in the house I believe to keep it away from the elements. Brew

My first Remote Starter (VIPER 561R) - opinions and additional question

Guess I can't add much here, but I have had the vipers in my last 6 or 7 vehicles, and haven't had a single problem with any of them. It is usually the very first thing I do to a new vehicle when I get it. Brew

    best home theaters

Thanks again guys, these are just what we are looking for. My buddy has a perfect room in his basement for a theater (plus the cash) so we are trying to get some ideas on the framing etc. I am a carpenter by trade so the building isn't the problem, I just don't have any creative bones in my body...

    best home theaters

Just wondering if anyone has any links to some really nice members theaters. We are doing a buddy's basement and want some ideas. I know there is a member's theater link somewhere, but I can't find it. Basically we want some of the very high end theaters if possible. Brew

    new home wish list question

Hey people, since this isn't really HT related I thought I would put it here. I am building a new home, smallish-1250 sq. feet. I am a carpenter by trade and will be doing 90% of it myself. What my question is, if you had a pretty limited budget, what would be some of the things you...

    Lazy but not Cheap

Hey Alan. I have a co-worker that just built a house near red-wing. He had custom cabinets made for his home by a guy in hastings I believe. I can ask him tommorrow for a name/number if you want me to. I am a carpenter by trade myself, but I am building my home this fall and wouldn't have time...

Sorry if this is old news, but I did a search and didn't find any similar posts. here is a new case specifically made to be used for a HTPC. It is pretty spendy, but looks pretty cool. Link Removed is the case, and Here is a review of the case. Brew

    DIY as a business?

First I disagree with the thought that someone should charge more because you have to, or choose to. If I can build it as well for less money, there is absolutely no reason not too. If I decide I am not making enough, either I can quit, or I can charge more. But to say it is disrespectful of me...

    DIY as a business?

Ok, I think I might have some different views. First off, I do have a couple friends that own an a/v store, custom HT's, and one that just does the audio portions of custom HT's. So I might have some good outlets right off the bat. Let's look at it again from a buyers perspective. You walk...

    DIY as a business?

What was I was thinking was a little different. I want to do pretty much just retail. I do not plan on gearing it towards the DIY crowd. Just aimed towards the crowd that wants to have a HT, but doesn't want the big black boxes, wants some that match their light oak, or maple, or cherry, etc...

    DIY as a business?

Hey people, I have been looking for a business I can do part time to make some extra cash. anyway, since I am a carpenter by trade, I have been considering making custom speakers for people. I am thinking to build the speakers and then offer any finish the customer wants. Is there anyone here...

    Speaker finishing (please read)

Bring them in to a shop that does the spray in liners. It should be pretty cheap for them to do it, all the have to do it spray, no prep work which is the expensive part. I have my two tube bumpers done on my last truck and it was $100. Worth a shot at least to call around and get prices. Brew

    making sealed box smaller-long

Ok, I just plugged in your measurements and there is kinda a problem. A 2x4 is actually 1.5" x 3.5", but that is not that big of a deal, I can use a 2x6 or something larger. It should be fairly easy to get into the .65 range before I add the sub. Taking 1.5 x 5.5 x 10" (size of a 2x6 ten...
