    Hitachi Power doesn't come on

That sounds all to familiar to me. I had the same thing happen. My set had a bad power distributor and few fried transistors. It only cost $78 to fix it all, but then again I knew the repair guy and he cut me a break on the labor. Hopefully it is something similar, since it was an easy fix. Jeff

Sony 57 WV 700... tell me what you think about this, plz

Donald, I would say that she should dive head first at this opportunity. It retails for about $4,000. I have seen the 57WV600 at Circuit City and it looks amazing. Better than any other set in the store. The 57WV700 should look even better. Tell her to go for it and don't look back. Good...

Pioneer Introduces The DV-47Ai and DV-45A

Stan, The firewire ports will allow for the digital transfer of DVD-A and SACD from the player to the receiver. Currently, this has to be done with six analog outputs from the player to six analog inputs on the receiver. I'm sure there will be more benefits too. Jeff

Thanks Allen. I didn't realize that Gary was from DC. I been reading many of his posts. Jeff

    HTPC - HDTV card?

Danny, Looks like the two main advantages I can see real quick are the component outputs and the firewire connection. If my memory serves me right, this is the first card to be able to do either. I know that I have my eye on it for a future purchase. And speaking of that, anyone ever deal...

Viewing STAR WARS digitally and Ticket Information

Aaron, Go to Ziegfeld. I just got back from the 12:15 show today; it's a 2 and a half hour drive and of course we had to journey around the city all day. OK, now back to the movie. Ziegfeld, without a doubt, is the best presentation of a movie I have ever seen, well other than IMAX. The DLP is...

Scott, It's either sent on 14 ROM discs, over a satellite link, or over fiber optic lines. Not all of the discs are actually used; 7 of them are for backup. Jeff

Viewing STAR WARS digitally and Ticket Information

David, Don't quote me on it, but I believe it's 20bit uncompressed. I remember reading that somewhere here on the forum. Update: This is straight from the DLP site. Audio: The audio information is normally stored as six channel, 24-bit uncompressed PCM data for the feature, and 16-bit...

Viewing STAR WARS digitally and Ticket Information

Dave, I saw it already today. I loved the Yoda scene and many others. I'm traveling to NYC just for the day to see it in DLP. I'm nuts over technology. How was the sound at Ziegfeld? I know it's a big place, so I want to know if it still sounds good. Thanks ahead of time. Jeff

*** Official "STAR WARS EPISODE II ATTACK OF THE CLONES" Review Thread

I agree with some of the negative aspects of the film, but the positive aspects vastly outweigh them. The love story was very intense for a Star Wars movie, but it plays so much into the overall outcome of the saga. The dark side is very present in EPII. I won't give the scene away, but the one...

Viewing STAR WARS digitally and Ticket Information

For all those wondering about the Edgewater show, according to the DLP site, it is being shown there. This isn't the list of DLP theaters, it's the list of DLP theater's showing EPII. It's interesting to see that as of now, not all DLP theaters are showing EPII. Kind of a waste, isn't it? Jeff

For everyone going to the Edgewater theater, what about the theaters in NYC at the AMC Empire and the Clearview Ziegfeld? Has anyone been to all three? I know I am going to choose one, but I want to know which one in your opinions is the best. Below is the list of the three(actually 4 since the...

Looking For Reviews Of Digital Theaters In New York City Area

Well with Star Wars EPII being released in DLP theaters, I have to go and see it there. I'm looking for opinions of either of the two theaters in NYC or the one in Edgewater, NJ. I'm hoping that someone has been to at least one of them. I would also like to know about the seating and sound. It...

My CD and DVD Roms won't recognize CDs!

I figured out my problem after thinking a little. I remembered it started happening around the time I installed a program called Instant CD/DVD. So I uninstalled it and bam, it worked. So in this case, XP wasn't at fault. I think the problem arised from using the program to make a CD-RW like a...

My CD and DVD Roms won't recognize CDs!

This just came out of nowhere. I'm running XP and have a Toshiba DVD-ROM and a Philips CDRW. Two days ago they both stopped reading CD-ROMs, CDRs, and CDRWs. I have no idea why. The DVD-ROM will play DVDs still. I'm confused. Normally fixing a computer problem is easy, but this one is an unusual...

Tosh SD9200 making noise. Should I even bother taking it in?

Tosh SD9200 making noise. Should I even bother taking it in?

Jay, you're not alone. I think the problem arises from the actually DVDs themselves. For some reason, I think the 9200 is very sensitive to DVDs that are just a little imperfect. Most that I have noticed a problem with had some slight imperfection on the disc itself. Hey, I might not be right...

***Official Blue Laser Software Disc. Thread*** (f/k/a "Hi-Def DVDs by Christmas?")

I don't know if this would be of much importance but I visited a Warner Brothers plant last week. The plant I was at is involved in about 70% of the worldwide DVD production. As you can guess, they do more than just Warner Bros. movies. While I was there, I asked a few questions on Blu-ray...
