Costco's website has this same TV for $200 less than Newegg, but I do not know how much the shipping would be. You do realize that it has a separate tuner box...HD tuner NOT built-in. Jack
I have also been looking at the Samsung 42" DLP mainly because my wife says it has to fit in our entertainment center and a 42" diagonal is as wide as I can go! I keep hoping that Samsung or some other name brand will come out with a 42" 1080p, but haven't seen it yet. I believe Westinghouse and...
The two best 42" models that I have seen are the Samsung HLS4266W DLP and the Sony KDFE42A10 LCD. They are both 720p/1080i and can be purchased from TV Authority for about $1500-1600 delivered...I think they are $1800-1900 at BB and CC plus tax and delivery. If you want to plan for the future...
If you decide to purchase online, be sure to check their ratings and customer feedback on resellerratings.com. Some of the cheaper prices on your NexTag link seem to be OK with most customers who have dealt with them. I would not just go by the NexTag ratings...checkout resellerratings.com.
Chris..."Sorry to be harsh, but...why say anything at all?" How many 50" 1080p RPTV's does Samsung make? Figuring out the model is not that difficult and sometimes we novice videophiles just like to say...WOW, what a picture, take a look at this one!! No hint of salesmanship in my view.
I agree, the viewing angle is critical on the DLP's I have been looking at...mainly the 42" Samsung and Sony. Whatever angle you are at, the far side of the screen will start to darken quickly as you increase the angle. Jack
Kevin...one thing you can't ignore is that you need to allow some air flow around the rear of the DLP to dissipate the heat from the lamp. I believe I saw in a Samsung 42" DLP manual that it should have at least 4 inches clearance from a wall for ventilation...or the heat buildup could shorten...
Robert and Tom, Thanks for your concerns which are similar to what I expressed to my son. However, the layout of the room has dictated the problem. One end of the room is open to the kitchen/dining area, the other end has the door to the garage and french doors to the backyard. One side has a...
My son and daughter-in-law are building a new house and decided to go with ceiling speakers for their family room where they will have their AV equipment. He asked me for some ideas on the type of ceiling speakers to get, but I know nothing about them. I have done a little research on them and...
I recently purchased four AudioQuest CF-G BFA banana plugs to use at the Denon 2805 receiver end of my AQ Bedrock cables on my front bi-wired speakers. There are 2 set screws on each plug that seem to do a good job on securing the cable conductors. However, when I push the plugs into the...
Chris...just an opinion as there seem to be an exceptionally large number of SVS and HSU supporters in this forum which would tell me that they must be a pretty good value. However, my experience in speakers and subs has been mainly with Paradigm, PSB, and Velodyne. With both Paradigm and PSB...
Bruce...I have had great experiences with both of the premier Canadian speaker manufacturers, Paradigm and PSB. They both have similar lines of speakers from which to choose. I currently have Paradigm Studio 20's v.2 for fronts and backs, and an older CC-350 in the middle. I believe you can...
Wow, I'm impressed and thanks for supporting my comments about the severe lightning in Colorado! As you can see, the dark blue area in CO are the Rocky Mtns where you would expect alot of C:G activity...we're in the dark green band just east of the mtns in the Denver metro area. The Joule...
Chu...thanks for the prompt reply, but I was hoping for some specific opinions of the Pure AV unit that I mentioned. First of all, there are MANY cloud to ground lightning strikes in Colorado...Castle Rock, about 15-20 miles south of us has some of the highest frequency of strikes in the...
I have been researching surge protector/line conditioners and came across the Belkin PURE AV PF30 AP20800-10 for around $100. It seems to have some pretty good specs with 3245 Joules of protection, 8 outlets, 2 pairs each for coax and phone, Phase 3 filter circuity, etc. Any experience or...
Thanks Nathan, that makes it 2 for 2 in favor of the 2910! Since you have owned both, besides the obvious differences in features, is there a noticeable difference in the video and audio outputs of the two players? I keep thinking that if I send a digital video signal via HDMI to my TV and a...
Bob...been in a Sears lately? At least at the one closest to our place, the HDTV's are packed into such a small area that you are hard pressed to get a good line of sight on any HDTV from a normal viewing distance!:) Jack
I am rebuilding my AV system after moving into a condo. Have a Denon 2805 receiver, Paradigm Studio 20 fronts, Paradigm CC-350 center, no rears at the moment, and a 1998 Sony S3000 DVD player. Although a great DVD player at the time, the Sony is lacking for today's HD formats. I am leaning...
