Reruns of Julia have been airing regularly for the last couple of years on the cable channel Aspire, a channel Magic Johnson launched in 2012. (I think the channel is only available on Comcast systems.)

[Besides Julia, Aspire also airs reruns of The Flip Wilson Show (the 30-minute version that used to air on TV Land). They used to also air I Spy and The Bill Cosby Show, but pulled both a few months ago when the Cosby controversy started.]

Neil, most of these shows are on my "want list " of programs I'd love to buy on DVD. I'd add Adventures In Paradise and Trackdown to the list . Sadly , many of these shows probably will never be seen again.

I agree. Even with the great number of shows that have been released so far, a list such as the one Neil posted is a good reminder that there are still so many shows that could/should be released - or at the very least rerun on either cable or one of the many digital subchannels that continue to pop up. Unfortunately, most of them probably won't.

One I'd add to Neil's list which I wish someone would release - The New Dick Van Dyke Show. It ran 3 seasons. The last time (only time) I saw it was in syndication in the early 80s.

I have heard a rumour that one of the shows on Neil's list (a black & white one)is being negotiated for DVD release. I won't name it because it may never happen, if I hear anything more positive I will post again.

While it's the classics that most interest me, Major Dad is a good modern example. This sitcom that premiered in 1989 ran for four seasons, but has disappeared. Other than Coach hopefully being restarted and more Newhart from Shout Factory, this is it for modern content that I still want.

Sadly, there's still a long list for pre 1970 shows that I'd like to see, including quite a few once popular shows like The Life of Riley.

Some good additions. Didn't know about Julia as that's on one of the few cable networks that Fios doesn't carry.

Another one I thought of from the more modern era is Empty Nest. Does that run anyplace anymore? Although I think it has run within the last 5 years.

I haven't seen that anywhere on cable since TBS reran it in the 1990s. Where DVD is concerned, you'd think they'd have gotten to the other shows that exist in the same universe as The Golden Girls by now, either from The Mouse or one of their licensees (like Lionsgate, who ended up releasing most of Boy Meets World).

the Western series 'Lancer' starring James Stacy, Wayne Maunder, Andrew Duggan, with Elizabeth Baur and - in season two - Paul Brinegar ('Wishbone' in Rawhide playing the same character renamed 'Jelly Hoskins') ran for two seasons and about 51 color episodes with alot of familiar guest stars, it was produced by Alan A. Armer and used to alternate seasons with 'The High Chaparral' in the UK back in the early seventies

'Lancer' was a kind of darker alternate to 'Bonanza' with a rather dubious patriach Murdoch Lancer (Andrew Duggan) who wanted to mend his past wicked ways and sought his two illegitimate sons... half brothers Johnny Madrid Lancer (James Stacy) a feared gunslinger & dapper Bostonian rogue gambler Scott (Wayne Maunder)

None of the leading trio were 'that good' to start with (unlike The Cartwrights on the Ponderosa) but they begin to become a family as the show goes on - Teresa O'Brien (Elizabeth Baur - later Fran Belding in 'Ironside') was Murdoch's neice

Jelly Hoskins appeared in one season one episode, then became a regular in season two.

so far 'Lancer' seems to be forgotten & has never seen any DVD release - odd for such a decent color seventies TV Western

another 'forgotten' such show was Robert Horton's interesting post-'Wagon Train' show; 'A Man Called Shenandoah' (or just 'Shenandoah') circa 1966 which ran for one season, re a mysterious figure known only as 'Shenandoah' who is suffering from amnesia and trying to establish his identity...each time he gets a clue it proves to be a dead end, while people 'recognise him'...often then tying to kill him, he gets a clue in a Civil War photo showing him to be a Union Army officer, but that trail proves a dead end too...sadly the show was axed without any proper resolution - typical !

That too appears to be a forgotten show now....

Empty Nest is a part of the new LAFF channel, so it would have been a good candidate for this list (a top 10 Nielsen show that ran for seven years), but is getting a little bit of airplay now.

Does "not running anywhere" include streaming? "Man Called Shenandoah" is available on Warner's Instant Archive streaming service.

The funny thing is that we have these new networks popping up like RTV, Antenna, Cozi, ME-TV, Heroes and Icons, Decades and hopefully soon the Quad networks. Yet they seem to be recycling the same shows between them. So much more could be done with these channels. I'm not even talking about the obscure, unsyndicated shows but what about things like Police Story, The Rookies, Family, Baretta, Owen Marshall, Felony Squad, NYPD, Bracken's World, Judd for the Defense, Room 222, Police Woman, Phyllis, The Tony Randall Show. There's no originality with these channels.

I agree. Add Nanny and the Professor, Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Eight is Enough, Alice, and The Doris Day Show to the list.

At least we got One Day at a Time, My Favorite Martian, Fantasy Island, Danny Thomas lost years, and Hazel, among others back on the air.

I guess I can look at it both ways. Remember the old saying: "Is the glass half-empty, or half-full?"

Valerie/The Hogan Family. This show lasted 6 seasons. Why isn't it on dvd yet? Could Valerie Harper possibly have something to do with it?
