Dan Wiggins: It's a small thermonuclear device constructed out of a shotty bomb casing and some used pinball machine parts!
Flight Attendant: You mean it's radioactive?!?!?!?
Dan Wiggins: No, No!!!!! This sucker is electrical! I just need the Plutonium to create the 1.21 Jiggawatts of Electricity to power the Subwoofer Motor!
Flight Attenant: Wheeew!
Wonder if two of these would be adequate for my 16.5x13x8' room? I dunno.......
"So how far can you go? A 48" x 48" panel would be about the limit. Pretty easy to stretch the motor to 12" of peak-to-peak stroke, so that would be around 16 cubic FEET of displacement (over 450 liters of linear displacement"
That would be kind of cool to watch all the air in your house be pushed out and sucked back in with some test tones as your foundation cracks and the roof expands and contracts. I think you might need more than a dedicated line to run this puppy.
and
"with a Qts of 0.72 and an Fs of 7 Hz"
Talk about making a mess in you pants, let alone you internal organs...
Fun stuff! Love the name. Interesting architecture--actually more standard than I'd expected, and with a slimmer pole than I'd predicted. :b Its look reminds me of the stratospheric Goto stuff from Japan.
Hmm. Qts 0.72 and Fs 7Hz. What's the Vas, Dan? (Despair all ye who wish to enclose this driver! ) Why not fatten the pole and drop the Qes? But hey, maybe this bad boy will advance the cause of IBs and dipoles, two vastly under-appreciated alignments.
I'm still extremely curious about the suspension/surround. That's gonna be the real newsmaker for me. Care to share, Dan?
