Saw Dave's post at TSoD when I got home from work tonight. Looking forward to finally being able to see the movie. I know it's been on TV recently, but at this point I figured I'd wait a few months for the DVD release and see the movie uncut and in its OAR.

Thank you so much David for letting us know , because who knows when Warner will officially announce it.Even though its the movie version and not a tv show, im glad David made an exception and announced it.Im thinking even if this dvd is barebones, theyll at least throw us the trailer.

Thanks for the info, Dave. Even though the cover art doesn't resemble the movie poster, it looks damn good.

Tv shows on dvd got a hold of the finals specs for the dvd , apparently its barebones with not even the trailer !!!!!!!!! I know there were many legal issues with getting this to dvd , but come on, in this day and age trailers should be mandatory .I would expect something like this from Paramount , but this is not something I would expect of Warner.

Tony,

Of course you wouldn't!

I spoke with Warner this past week, though not specifically
about this title. I think what I have to add can be applied to
the lack of trailer on this release....

The studio told me that when it comes to putting out titles
they put every consideration into giving fans the best release
possible.

Too many times there are legal/rights issues that prevent
documentaries and trailers from being included. The reasons
are often widespread since there are so many elements that
go into documentaries and trailers such as music and talent.

I am disappointed by the lack of trailer, too. However, based
on the length of time it has taken the studio just to get clearance
on this title (10 years or less), I would highly suspect that the
trailer was an issue for them. I know Warner would have included
it if they were able to.

If I am disappointed by anything it's the artwork. Would have
preferred the original poster as the new artwork makes this DVD
look more like the Image TV releases. I am not going to lose any
sleep over it, however.

Ron, thanks for replying.Im dissapointed in the cover too, but perhaps they wanted the cover to look like the image releases to fit in with the other dvds ? I know its not the same company , but maybe thats what theyre aiming for.

It has become a personal pet peeve of mine about studios
not using original poster art for their movie releases.

In my world, I look at these DVD releases as a representation
of film history. The studios do everything they can to preserve
the original film presentation but give very little regard to to
doing the same for the packaging.

There is a historical significance to movie poster art that gets
totally disregarded by the home video industry because they
suddenly feel that they can do their own photoshop work that
actually makes the title look more "sellable."

Generally Warner does a great job preserving original artwork
for their packaging. So, when they do something bad it really
stands out as being bad. Sadly, the artwork they chose is VERY
bad.

And, no, they are not the same company releasing the TV shows,
nor do I gather they did this very similar artwork to tie in with
another studio's efforts. I just think they felt they could do something
to make the film look more "modern" and "sellable" to consumers.

Look, I'm just happy this thing has finally made it to DVD and Warner
should be applauded for working hard to get this released based on
consumer demand. Don't mind my personal "babble" about artwork
as in the end, it's really a non-issue anymore.

I'm just grateful that there is an anamorphic widescreen presentation and 5.1 sound. That's all I have ever wanted for this release.

I don't think the cover art is that bad. It's some iconic images from the show, the eye, the door, framed from an airplane window.

I'd prefer the original poster art anyday but it's not bad.

TV Land is also scheduled to air it the weekend of September 15. (One of the few movies on TV Land that makes sense.)

I'm not sure I want to be reminded of the horrible incident surrounding this. Makes it tough to adjust into movie watching mode.

Very excited about this release. I can't believe I get to retire my VHS this year. :) Lithgow should've been nom'd for an Oscar. Morrow and Corouthers were excellent too.
