I really like Amber Tamblyn as an actress, and I really liked her here. It's nice to have a fresh face that doesn't take House's tactics as a given. It's also nice to have an intellectual power house that can really challenge him.

This was the darkest episode of this show in a while. I liked that when push came to shove, Masters was willing to give up her career to protect her principles. It isn't something we usually see on this show, which is pretty cynical about humanity. I like that even though she's probably the only one who approaches House's brilliance, what makes her valuable is that she will not bend on those principles. Knowing that she will not break even to save her career means House is dealing with an absolute. She's his breaker switch, and he's smart enough to know he needs one. He shouldn't have been on this case, and he knew it. But he was also the only one able to save Cuddy's mom's life.

Yes this was the darkest episode since S3...The best season, IMO. For an episode like this, I wish there was some advancement, but in the end everything was the same. This would have been the perfect exit for Masters. I was very disappointed when she started putting her stuff back in the locker. I would have liked to have seen Chase be more shrewd and not have as many morels, after what he did in the beginning of S6 and the whole cover up thing. It would have been cool to see him move, ever so closer, to House's world.

Tonight's episode had me rolling at times, and on the edge of my seat, but I think the final bits let me down in the end. Still, a solid 54 minutes (including commercials).

I was hoping for more resolution with the kids. I enjoyed the three-layer narrative, with each more distorted than the last. I liked that the girl was basically a surrogate Cuddy, keeping House on his toes. And just the image of a middle-aged man on the troublemakers' bench outside the principal's office.

I, too, really enjoyed this episode; I like when they attempt interesting story-telling modes. The two child actors were really good, too.

I did not at all see this episode coming. Very surprised to see them show House going back into relapse, but I think it's a great storyline. I was kind of blindsided by that at the end; Cuddy realizing she and House could never hold for the sake of her child.

I agree that it was probably inevitable. I just hope relapse House isn't the same as pre-mental hospital House. I'd like to see him go to rehab right away, and tackle this thing in a way he never did before the mental hospital.

I don't follow this show much anymore...I think they've done all they can do.

But, I did watch last night because it looked 'different' and I have to say that the Cuddy breakup at the end is ridiculous. Cuddy is and has been a lot of things over the course of the series but she has never been a selfish coward until last night. Cuddy knows House is an addict...has always known. Just because he 'quit' when they got together didn't change that fact. Something she is absolutely aware of. So, when he falls off the wagon she runs? Not the Cuddy I know. It's a weaksauce move by the writers to separate them and create drama where they were running dry.

AXE-CANE, MOTHERFUCKERS. With optional shotgun-attachment.

This is the type of cane Charlie Sheen would use.

(What would've made it even MORE awesome is if House had worn his "Charlie Harper" shirt during the "Zombie Attack" sequence.)

Also, Lisa Edelstein wearing a cowboy-type outfit with guns on her hips gave me some massively-huge wood.

I know a lot of people really enjoyed the dream sequences, but I have to say they felt like useless filler to me. She realizes that her subconscious is telling her he's on drugs through them? Really? Kind of ridiculous and unnecessary as far as I'm concerned. I know they are trying to change the formula a bit from time to time but this just didn't work for me.

I didn't take that as what was being said at all. The friend said: "Hey, you left your sleeping pills out". She realized that she had not been taking sleeping pills. She was taking vicodin. She was taking House's vicodin that he had hid in the sleeping pills bottle. That's why she was having the messed up dreams. The dreams weren't telling her house was on Vicodin.. she realized the sleeping pills were giving her messed up dreams because they -were- vicodin. That's when she realized she couldn't make it work.

I don't agree with Joe that the dream sequences were filler, but his interpretation is correct. Cuddy was taking sleeping pills, which gave her messed up dreams. Rachel, when seeing pill bottles of all sorts, calls them candy -- which is why she has to be so careful about leaving pill bottles around. House was clean through most of the episode, but Cuddy's subconscious was reminding her that House is an addict. When House was unable to be at Cuddy's bedside, he relapsed in order to numb things enough to be there for her -- with the full intention of having it be a one time thing. But Cuddy, recognizing that House was unable to be there for her unmedicated, broke things off. That in turn triggered a full blown relapse.

I took the scene where she looked at the big horsepills in her sleeping pill bottle and realized those were not sleeping pills. *shrug*

Correct. The labels on the bottles were even different: Cuddy's had her name and "sleeping pills" on it, and House's had his name (who filled this perscription, or was it old and hidden?) and vicodin on it.

The fact the labels were different didn't mean anything; the fact was the pills weren't what she thought they were, which is why they had a shot of her holding horse pills in her hand.. I will see *shrug* just my interpretation, but I watched back through this this morning, and I guess I looked at it as house hiding drugs and got caught, using a bottle for a script she hadn't been using
