According to the rules (8 films or more) I'll nominate a few myself:
Robert Aldrich Tim Burton Brian De Palma John Frankenheimer William Friedkin Terry Gilliam Sam Peckinpah Roman Polanski Michael Powell Don Siegel Peter Weir
I've got many more that'll have to wait for the Wild-card nominations.
If anyone can nominate 'em there are dozens of other great Directors that deserve a nomination like Lubitsch, Penn, etc.
Robert Aldrich Peter Bogdanovich John Boorman Mel Brooks Tim Burton Chris Columbus * Francis Ford Coppola * Wes Craven David Cronenberg George Cukor Michael Curtiz * Brian De Palma Clint Eastwood John Frankenheimer William Friedkin Terry Gilliam Walter Hill * Ron Howard * Peter Jackson Elia Kazan Barry Levinson * Sidney Lumet * Anthony Mann Alan Parker Sam Peckinpah Roman Polanski Michael Powell Sam Raimi Harold Ramis Eric Rohmer George Romero Ridley Scott Don Siegel George Stevens Preston Sturges * W.S. Van Dyke Paul Verhoeven * Peter Weir Robert Wise * William Wyler Zhang Yimou
* seconded
2 more Nominations & 8 more seconds & thirds for everyone who's participated.
I'm going to go ahead & second & third the ones that I can.
This concept is still forming in my head but this is how I envision the next step.
For our pool of films:
Instead of a long (this is probably going to be a long tournament anyway) tedious film nomination process I'll post up the Directors entire filmology. Everyone will vote for the films that they have seen & want in that particular Directors Tournament.
For example
STANLEY KUBRICK Day of the Fight Fear and Desire Killer's Kiss The Killing Paths of Glory Spartacus Lolita Dr. Strangelove 2001: A Space Odyssey A Clockwork Orange Barry Lyndon The Shining Full Metal Jacket Eyes Wide Shut
You'd indicated the films you want included in that Directors Tournament with a (8 maximum for the main pool of Directors & 4 max for the Wild-card directors)
Comments are welcome Other signs like :b :frowning: :p) will be optional
Robert Aldrich Dario Argento Peter Bogdanovich John Boorman * Mel Brooks Tim Burton Chris Columbus * Wes Craven David Cronenberg * George Cukor Brian De Palma Clint Eastwood John Frankenheimer William Friedkin Terry Gilliam Ron Howard * Peter Jackson Elia Kazan Barry Levinson * Anthony Mann * Alan Parker Roman Polanski * Michael Powell Sam Raimi Harold Ramis * Rob Reiner Ivan Reitman Eric Rohmer George Romero * Ridley Scott * Don Siegel George Stevens * W.S. Van Dyke Peter Weir William Wyler * Zhang Yimou *
Keep your own tally
Everyone has 10 Nominations & 16 seconds & thirds. Minus what you've used of course.
