Hello... I just received my first receiver and was wanting some help setting it up..I have a Velodyne VRP 12 sub.. Energy cb5 fronts and energy take center and surrounds.. Should I just use the audyssey mic? I'd rather manually set it up.. Thought I'd ask the pros...thanks!

There is, in essence, no "perfect" set-up.

I don't hear like you do, you don't hear like the next guy...

Maybe you like boom in your bass...maybe you like "absolutely clean roll-off".

Start off with a 70hz crossover for the fronts(they get there...or 80...the manual tells you the -3 on the end).
Your others...set at 120. Sub anywhere from 80-120, I would prefer 80...you might like 120.

    There is no wrong answer.

Be prepared to try the subwoofer in multiple locations in the room as well.

And considering what you had...be prepared for an immediate....WOW...

Then once past that...you can get to really setting it up. Trying to do final set-up on the initial "realisation of what you've been missing" isn't the best time...

Set it up, be wowed for a week...then fine tune it.
