Seasons 3 and up aired wide in the US
Angel S1 was shown 4:3 worldwide. No 16:9 masters of the episodes exist according to Fox and ME. Remember, just like with 1.85:1 films-"Just because it's there doesn't mean it's meant to be seen"I'm well-aware.
But I never said they were doing anything else. I'm not sure if you're reading too much into my post or what, but judging by the tone of that earlier reply, I apparently did something to get under your skin. If I offended you, it was completely inadvertent, and nothing I've said was directed towards you.Nothing with you personally, it's just every time the topic comes up it's the same info back and forth. It's not you, it's the topic that irritates me. Frankly I think we should just hold off on saying anything further, guessing or reading into it until we get word from Mutant Enemy
until we get word from Mutant EnemyWhich will change nothing, either way. Either they were full of it when they previously stated that it was composed for 4:3, or they are releasing a product with a non-intended AR.

Which will change nothing, either way. Either they were full of it when they previously stated that it was composed for 4:3, or they are releasing a product with a non-intended ARThe quote is from Tim Minear, who was not showrunner until sometime in Season 3, and only David Greenwalt and Joss Whedon are qualified to dictate AR on Angel for the first 2 seasons.
Buffy (ALL except Once More With Feeling)- 4:3
Angel

“‘Angel’ is a widescreen show, starting with the second season,” Whedon said. “So that is presented widescreen.”Neil
PS - were we sure that Angel wasn't broadcast in WS until Season 3?100%
