General Discussion YouTube TV 5.1 sound only 2.0 (1 Viewer)

Fire TV Stick 4K Max connected to SAT/CATV HDMI input of Sony STR-ZA810ES receiver.
Fire TV Stick 4K Max setting Surround Sound Best Available.
All apps downloaded to Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
YouTube TV app setting Surround sound ON for 5.1 audio.
Getting 5.1 sound from Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube, etc. apps

When watching YouTube TV, the only channels that I see the AC3 codec displayed are listed below:

Comet TV
QVC
MTV Classic
Dabl
Local Now
Start TV
Cozi

But, I'm only hearing 2.0 stereo with the channels above and all the others. Sony STR-ZA810ES receiver displays DOLBY D +

Youtube's 5.1 support (what little there is) is awful in general. It'll work on their Roku app but not the AndroidTV equivalents.

The Dolby Digital Plus display on your receiver does not guarantee a 5.1 mix. It can be any number of discrete channels [up to 5.1] depending on what was actually encoded.

I talked to customer support. Took over a hour to get it fixed. It was their last suggestion. Uninstall and reinstall.

Got to love it. Glad it's working now.

Checked today and back to 2.0. I guess anytime I want to hear 5.1 I have to Uninstall and reinstall.

Uninstall and reinstall not working anymore. Fire TV Stick 4k Max not supported for Dolby Digital 5.1. Fire TV Stick 4k is.

Others have reported that surround sound was turned off recently by youtube tv. Turned it back on.
