I ordered the new TWINE soundtrack last night along with the 30th Anniversary Die Hard soundtrack set from the LaLaLand online store. I see the check out is revamped and it was a much better experience! I even set up an account this time as it was so much better. I buy enough discs there so it made sense. :).

Finally had a chance to open the TWINE set and listening to it now. It’s nice that it’s all there, Gunbarrel and all!

Tomorrow Never Dies is next? Then Goldeneye? I hope this keeps going but at a faster rate. 18 more to go not counting the Craig films if we keep going in this reverse order. And not counting the 1967 Casino Royale and the 1983 Never Say Never Again.

Tomorrow Never Dies makes sense this year. Hopefully another November release. Arnold also scored casino Royale and Quantum so maybe we will see those.

I thought Quantum was his best score since Tomorrow Never Dies. I am enjoying the new TWINE expanded too!

I hope David Arnold returns for Bond 25. It’s time.

I hope the other scores can be expanded in the future too. Especially the Roger Moore ones which aside from Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only we’re overlooked on the 2003 remasters.

At any rate it’s been a miracle and amazing to get 2 more 007 soundtracks expanded after so many years! I know many of us have been waiting years for more expanded 007 soundtracks!

I am grateful!

I feel like I should know this but I can’t remember so here goes:

Was the 2003 emi reissues of daylights, for your eyes only and octopussy the same mastering as the ryko versions? That is the we’re the same disc essentially?

Just wondering if they were further mastering done. I know they were not further expanded.

Thanks!!

I only have the Ryko versions myself, but my understanding is that the EMI are identical, minus the incidental dialogue on Octopussy. (Which I enjoy. I know many don't.) I believe the only EMI release which was poorly received was A View To A Kill. General consensus is the Japanese release from 1996 is superior. Again, I do not have both to compare.

Here is a nice review of Octopussy with a little history about it's release on CD.

Thank you! Funny I pulled the same article as you linked as well!
So the 3 ryko transfers were re used for the emi releases.

I hope we get new expanded releases of octopussy, view, Moonraker, spy, and golden gun someday.

I am a huge fan of the Bond Soundtracks but only the ones composed by John Barry. His music was a huge stamp on what the makeup of a Bond movie was. What made them unique. His music created the atmosphere, the feel and mood of the movies. The lack of his music is one of the things that just doesn't feel right in all the Bond movies from 1989 and on. But I do enjoy all the Bond movies.

100% agreed!!

I really liked David Arnold too. I wish he was able to return to the 007 films.

I had heard this elsewhere.

I would have brought TND 2cd in a heartbeat like the others. They are busy wrapping up the new film but quite how much they need to be involved I don't know...its more a matter for La La, Neil and David I would presume.

I was reading up on You Only Live Twice as I have been listening to it a few times this week. There is something I didn’t realize, that another version of the title track was recorded with Julie Rogers doing the vocal. Albert R Broccoli apparently didn’t feel it had the right sound so the song was reworked with new lyrics and Frank Sinatra was approached to sing it. he declined but recommended his daughter, Nancy.

I knew Thunderball had an alternate title track that was replaced at the last minute with the Tom Jones track. The titles was to be Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang sung by Dionne Warwick.

But this alternate YOLT was news to me for some reason. The recording of the title song appears in the 1992 2 Disc CD set called The Best of James Bond 30th Anniversary. I happen to have that set and I have not listened to it in a long time since I’ve collected each film’s sound tracks separately. This set has each title track on disc one from Dr. No to License To Kill. The second CD I hate to admit I haven’t played probably since I bought the CD back in the 90’s! It has both YOLT that Julie Rogers recorded and the Dionne Warwick Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang version. So I’ve ripped it and will give it a listen.

And I was looking at the Dr. No soundtrack. Reading up on the soundtrack album in a great article on MI6 community pages, the album is missing many of the tracks used in the film that Monte Norman wrote.

It would be great if some day Neil S Bulk and his cronies can come back to do proper full releases of each Bond soundtrack. And include all the alternate tracks. I even read that Nancy Sinatra had recorded her own version of YOLT and it’s on YouTube. I so far have not found a copy on CD yet. That would be cool to find. But I can hear her vocal doesn’t have the dynamic range her vocal does on the film version. And we know they recorded many takes and spliced together the bests parts to make one whole performance.

Die another day and the world is not enough reissues were fantastic. I bought both as son as they went on sale.

I hope there are more in the works. Especially many of the Roger moore scores which remain incomplete on cd.

I love the 1992 best of bond collection too.

I’m listening to that 1992 Best of Bond collection. I had not listened to it in so long, I totally forgot the contents and as soon as I heard the Alternate You Only Live Twice and Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang tracks, I totally remembered listening to them on this set!

It would be great to have a surprise Black Friday 007 soundtrack announcement next week.

Tomorrow never dies, Quantum of Solace would be great.

I am forever hopeful that the later Barry scores will be expanded someday and the earlier ones given 2 disc releases.

I can't remember if La La Land announces their Black Friday titles in advance of when they go on sale or if it's kept secret until the day they go on sale.

I'm dreaming big and hoping to see a box set of all nine of John Williams' Star Wars scores. I'm sure that's probably a fantasy due to Disney and the licensing costs but I can dream. :)

I posted in the Star Wars thread. Disney has reissued empire and a new hope on vinyl. They both have new cover art.

I believe the new la la land releases are announced on Black Friday.

No new Bond this time. I don't know if La La Land confirmed it but the theory on Facebook is that they want to tie-in a Bond CD release with No Time To Die's theatrical release so it was delayed.

On the plus side, they're putting out Freaky, two Jerry Goldsmith volumes (one with Von Ryan's Express/The Blue Max and The Detective/The Flim-Flam Man on the other), The Karate Kid Part III, Tremors and The X-Files: Volume Four (!).
