SVS has announced the arrival of the 3000 Micro subwoofer ($799.99) which the company says delivers a “chest-pounding, room-filling low frequency output” from a compact 10-inch cabinet. The subwoofer is available now, comes in either a piano gloss white or piano gloss black finish, and measures a manageable 10.9”(H) x 11.7”(W) x 10.7”(D).
SVS has uplifted tech from the reference SVS 16-Ultra sub, and the new 3000 Micro employs dual opposing 8-inch drivers and an 800 watt RMS, 2,500 watt Peak Power Sledge STA-800D2 amplifier with discreet MOSFET output. The subwoofer also includes the SVS control smartphone app for advanced tuning of DSP. The company claims it “obliterates” the competition with its tiny form factor, a subwoofer category which has been burdened historically with weak output, distortion, and a “disappointing” user experience.

Yea, this looks like an amazing little product. I attended the live unveiling where they explained how it is a real, full-range subwoofer capable of room-filling bass in small to medium sized rooms, as opposed to the type often found in HTIB solutions. Perfect for apartments or other settings where available space is limited.

Dual 8" drivers makes it roughly equivalent to an ~11" driver. Full size subs are 12" to 16". So, done right, this baby sub will have the range of a semi-full size sub?

Certainly an interesting product. If I ever decided to remove full-size speakers and PC12 sub from the living room to change the audio / aesthetics balance, this could be of real interest.
