Sub woofer setup (1 Viewer)

I have been unable to install my new Sub. I thought it was just two rca’s but tried messing with the settings and nothing. Was looking to watch the game and blast it. I have it hooked up using a direct tv reciever to a sony one hdmi. If you can bare with me I’d greatly appreciate it.

You don't use two cables. Only one, from the Sub Output 1 to the L/LFE input on the sub. Then you need to go into the speakers setup menu in the receiver and set "Subwoofer" to "Yes" or "On". Then you need to adjust the levels and crossover for the sub and other speakers to match it with the rest of the system. Your receiver might have a mic and a calibration mode to help with this. It's actually complicated to get it all adjusted and calibrated correctly, but those are the basic steps to activate the output to the sub.

Yeah I get what you say, most of it. I did look into it some more yesterday and wasn’t looking to do anything fancy. Besides I got the rca cable just too make sure. Did the footwork and talked to the manufacturer. Even thought that it’d probably be a good idea to adjust the rest of my setup. And my reciever came with a device to do all that. Problem is it broke! For now would be just nice to have it setup. Going to give it another crack tomorrow. Definitely nice to have a descent home theater system. Think it should sound nice once it’s finished.

You really didn't need a new cable. The ones you had are fine. You only need to use one of them.
